Eric Clapton- Tears in heaven question

Any of you who have heard the song will know its quite sad and emotional. To be honest is one of my favourite songs ever written

But what does he mean when he says: '' I dont belong here in heaven''?

I dont get it. Is he singing from his sons perspective? What do you think?

Means that it's not his time yet and that he has to go back to reality and live his life.

It's because he feels responsible for his sons death...
