You stand upon a monolithic bridge which towers over a river of pure mercury; the structure is solid in form but crude in detail and gives the stepper a feeling of decrepitude.
Behind youis a path to safety but in your way are two colossal obelisks with flaming orbs hovering above them, in between these obelisks you see dozens of scorched cadavers still in upright positions as if their will to flee would not let their forms crumble.
Guarding the span of the bridge is a great beast with seven heads, seven horns, and seven crowns upon those horns. It is a behemoth of considerable size but appears to be malformed in such a way that forces it into immobility, yet its girth still spans the width of the bridge so thus is not a problem for the abomination.
The beast utters, "Friend or foe, man or woman, irrelevant in the eyes of the head which is benevolent. Now choose a crown and place it upon your scalp, if you have chosen wisely than you may pass." The beast than lowers its heads so that you may choose a crown from one of the seven.
Head #1 is twisted and wears a wooden crown, Head #2 is scarred and wears a crown of twigs, Head #3 is burned and wears a crown of steel, Head #4 is gaunt and wears a crown of feathers, Head #5 is round and wears a crown of animal organs, Head #6 is smiling and wears a crown of fire, Head #7 is blue and wears a crown of ice.
Yet before you choose a crown you notice a finely polished shield laying far behind the closest cadaver to you, it is clear enough to reflect any image it receives, and next to that shield is a wooden flute with the initial "D. I. R." written across the side.
