I think I did yesterday morning. I just got done having some weird dream, and then I knew I was awake (or was I?) and I was making the conscious decision to open my eyes.

Either right before or after I opened my eyes (again, my brain was thinking I was awake), a pitch black demonic silhouette with red eyes jumped at me. Suddenly it took control of me and from my POV I was spinning very fast, like on a merry go round on steroids.

As this happened, my head warmed up and I heard what sounded like demonic breathing or something. It wasn't human, I know that.

After the spinning stopped, I awoke for real. I was sleeping partly on my back and side and my right arm was asleep. My heart raced so fast that blood rushed into my sleeping arm and made my fingers move by themselves until the numbness stopped.

Pretty damn scary experience. It felt like my doom was imminent.

I heard people talking about it here and elsewhere on multiple occasions, which almost stirred envy for their surreal experience. It wasn't until I experienced it myself a few months ago that I realized the horrors of the experience.

I didn't remember if I was dreaming earlier, but I woke up to a demonic specter floating over me holding a scythe. I thought it was taking me to Hades so I tried to escape but couldn't move a finger. It was frightening how my mind was screaming at my body "MOVE, MOVE" yet the latter felt like a vegetable. Then suddenly, my entire body jerked and it was over. It was so intense that it lingered for the better part of the next day.

A few days later it happened again, but I haven't experienced it again ever-since. You seem to be having some sleeping troubles guru, what gives? In case you watch stuff or game before going to sleep, I suggest refraining from doing any of this at least 2 hours before going to bed. I remember how such stimuli used to wreck my sleeping in the past.

Maybe only a couple of times, and only for several seconds.

It wasn't a scary thing since I immediately realised what was happening. I remember I just found it interesting how my body was incapable of receiving signals from the brain no matter how hard I tried to move. But it soon wore off after I fully came to.

Experienced this my whole life. Don't be afraid. There is something inside of you that is hidden from your conscious mind. It may take a lifetime for you to see what it is. You may never see it. The only advice I have is try to stand up to it.

I've experienced it a lot a couple years ago. The first time it scared the hell out of me. I have an easy way out of it now though, and that's to move my eyes from left to right continuously and to wiggle my toes. I had the feeling of impending doom myself the first couple of times. I never had any hallucinations, thankfully.

I have not and can't say I think I'm missing out. I have plenty of nightmares while sleeping to keep me company...don't need hallucinations while awake.

That being said, it seems more likely that you've experienced a dream within a dream, rather than sleeping paralysis. I've had those too and they're annoying. You dream yourself waking up, then weird stuff happens, then you "wake up for real", then weird stuff keeps happening and then you finally really wake up.

I had episodes of it last year. I was raped by something that was whispering in my ear.

It has happened to me a few times. One time I saw this alien looking thing and I tried my hardest to yell at it. Broke the spell and I could move again.

I don't know man, I don't know what it is. I've had experiences where I've woken up, but can't move any part of my body. When I try to scream or talk nothing comes out of my mouth and then something pins me down and it feels like it's crushing me, when this happens I don't see anything it's just an invisible force. It's pretty scary when you can't move anything, not even a little finger and nothing comes out of your mouth when you try to scream or anything. After all that it stops and I can't exactly remember but I think I wake up later on.

Never.

I've read that sleep paralysis mostly occurs to people who sleep in a supine position. I always sleep on my sides so that must be one reason why I've never experienced SP.

I suddenly woke up out of a weird dream, i looked up and hovering over me was this thing, it was small and had like a skeletal type head or your typical alien type head, a cross between the two i guess, and it seemed to have these clock work cogs that were in twined and revolving around it. What ever it was was in the center of those rings/cogs, i remember just staring at it as it slowly faded away, and i was questioning myself like,"wtf was that, did i really just see that." Was super creepy.

Not exactly paralysis but i have experienced that also but without the creepy shadowy figure.

Usually.

It's the true feeling of dying ... you can't move, breath , anything ....it's just a terrifying experience and there's nothing you can do but trying to be calm during the day ..i mean don't expose yourself to stress ....whenever i have a difficult time going through the day i get this shitty experience ... you get used to it tho...

@mjorh: Man it's crazy, I wonder why it happens, also it's weird that others see something before it happens and I don't (not that I'm complaining). Also cheers mate, I loved Arkham Knight so much I got the platinum trophy for the game on the PS4, my first ever platinum too. As for my graphics card I was running an overclocked GTX 460 1GB for like the past 5 years and had no plans on upgrading, but then one day the card failed on me and I went for the cheap alternative. It's more than enough as I don't really game much on my PC these days, I've been playing everything on my PS4 lately.

and then you woke up to find your dog/cat licking your face, lol .. j/k

Really, thats a pretty wild dream. When i was young i used to be able to see myself sleeping, and i couldn't wake myself up. I would try to scream, but i just couldn't. Your lucky your not in this part of the nightmares yet. I hated this part. Luckily it went away, and i haven't gone through this in years, long, long ago.

I experienced sleep paralysis during my sophomore year in college. I was depressed at the time. It didn't happen often, but it was terrifying whenever it did.

So basically it sounds like it happens when the body and mind are over worked. Systems are a shut down, rest needed. I guess ?

I have about 4-5 times its the worst thing ever to experience, feeling like you are dying while the devil stares at you from the foot of your bed and aliens are trying to unlock your bedroom door.

But your body cant move no matter how hard you try and I was trying to yell and no sound would come out.
