So I have to ask: have you ever had a professor (or teacher, for our high school friends) that didn't seen to know as much about what they teach as you? I ask, because I've got this World Religions professor that I'm always correcting. It's getting annoying, really; I feel like I'm wasting money to be taught by someone that's wrong half the time.

This ever happened to any of you guys?

My DGM professor doesn't seem to know the stuff as well as I do, but I also would've completely skipped the class if it weren't required for my major.

I had a teacher in High School that didn't have a clue about what she was trying to teach. So I learnt the class myself and did pretty well.

Oh, I was gonna say, "Yes, I have had one of my professors, and one of my TAs" but that's not what you meant. My high school AP Calc teacher deferred to me whenever she got stuck working something out on the board.

I think it's more common in high school than college, although it also seems to happen quite a big in college as well. With high school, though - if you go to a lower-level school district, they always get the cheap teachers that don't know jack.

My grade 12 religion teacher knew nothing of Religion, only Catholicism (this was to be expected, considering it was a Catholic school).

Also my current computing teacher on some subjects, he knows his stuff but he isn't up to date and has regularly give me code which dosn't work, i wouldn't say i personally know more than him but me paired with a web browser do.

Where I went to high school, the district had absolutely no interest in teaching computer classes, so we had the crappiest computer teachers I've ever seen. They never knew the first damn thing about computers. Those teachers really should have been downright embarrassed, because half the class was running laps around any and all of them.

Yeah it's much more common in HS. A HS will try and get away with using a general teacher without a degree in the field their teaching if they can, but in college if there isn't a teacher who's fully qualified in the subject they're teaching then the class dosn't happen.

No real intrset at my school either until the goverment made it mandatory. Though even after it was mandatory there were no real lessons we were just told what we had to do for the coursework and got on with it, there were no theory lessons even though a third of the marks were from a written exam. We had one competent IT teacher in the entire department who also seemed to run the IT department, all the obvious back doors were closed after she joined. Properly qualified, knew her subject and gave proper lessons. Shame i only had her for a few months. Oh and i forgot to mention my BS teacher, he was just terrible. On the cooursework a friend of mine got a mark for just writing "orange" on a powerpoint slide.

The TA was the only one I fooled around with while I was actually in the class she was TA'ing; I did get an A but it was strictly for my performance in the class, not my performance out of the class (though I guess that was acceptable, because she and I went there on multiple occasions  )

Congrats on the A. But I am guessing she wasn't very good...

Yes I had an Algebra II teacher who got all the answers from the answer-book. I remember when we would go over answers from our homework and I corrected him he would say I was wrong all the time we would have to go over the question like 2-3 times just to prove I was correct. Then I remember one time I got detention for finishing a test super fast and getting 100% and not having written everything I told him I did everything in my head which I did, but apparently that was way to hard to believe so he just called me a cheater .

I had a databases tutor who hadnt a clue. She read everything from a text book and when asked a question had no idea how to answer it. £3500 well spent in that year of uni.
