Nope. Video games are a permanent part of my life (as made evident by my FFVIII tattoo). They don't rule my life though. I'm in college, working, planning a wedding, etc. I stay busy and in my off time it's a great way to relax and have fun.
To me saying that is like saying "ever giving up reading books, or watching movies".. Its a broad form of entertainment that can take all shapes and sizes.
I can't think of a good reason why I would want to. It's not like I would ever let them rule my life or anything like that. They're just a good way to relax just like a movie or a book or tv.
i did believe it or not go like 4 years without playing them. just bought gamecube at launch. played it for a few months friend borrowed it for a few years. finnally i reclaimed it one day....and good gosh the drug of gaming hit me hard lol.
No. Never will. Its a hobby to kill time, and actually goes deeper than that. You can say I'm sort of a hypocrite when I will say committing suicide is stupid. And yet, a long time ago, I decided video games will be my long lasting suicide attempt, as I will dedicate my entire life to playing video games. Isn't going as well as planned, but that's to be expected when unwanted responsibilities are put on your shoulder...
I did give up playing games about 10 years ago. I really was playing them too much, didn't have much of a social life.
Then I just decided to stop. Went a good 3 years without playing them whatsoever. After a while, I started playing them every now and then, and I've been playing them reasonably often for the last few years.
So I missed out on a whole load of games released at the start of last decade.
Nope. I love gaming, it's my hobby :) I would only give it up if it negatively affected my life or prohibited me from doing more important things, but it doesn't so I play on continuing.
No... I've had my life threatened with a knife to my neck over a pokemon game. Guy was nuts and was expelled from school. Any "addiction" I had has died down, I still love video games and wouldn't consider myself a casual, but I'm not the type to ignore the girlfriend for COD.
Well I can go long periods of time without playing them but sometimes I just want to play games. Like how I didn't play a video game for about a week and then I got bored so I started playing Half Life 2. After two days of playing off and on I beat Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1. Just because I was in the mood to do it.
i pretty much have. i occasionally play a little. but my days of being a hardcore gamer are long gone. on average, i spend less than an hour gaming each week.
I gave up playing WOW that game sucked way to many hours from my life. MMORPGs are awesome but man then take time to do it right. I also find I play less in the summer when the sun comes out and its worth going outside. In the winter id rather play video games then watch TV/movies. So for me its just a different form of media I enjoy.

I've never deliberately tried to give up videogames, but I have stopped playing them simply because they started to bore thew hell out of me and playing them ceased to be any fun.
The difference is this...Instead of saying, "I like games but still want to try to give them up", I instead said, "I don't like videogames any more, so there's no reason for me to keep playing them".

Yeah, I'm not sure why I would want to give up video games. If I ever did stop, it would be because I got bored with them, not because I wanted to give up something I enjoy.
Yeah, it was ruining my life I woke up playing video games and slept playing video games, now I try to play only Fridays but I find myself starting to like the idea of some sort of career into the gaming industry (an excuse to play more video games of course)
No, but if I ever had to give up playing games for the rest of my life I'd be just fine. It's good to have other things besides gaming to make your life worth living.
I never tried quitting video games, however I do take a break from them every once in awhile. Its a fun hobby, I wouldn't know what else to do with my time if I stopped.
I pretty much have given up..I actually sold like 5 of my PS3 games. I havent sold a game in prob 10 years. I just dont play much at all and was thinking about selling other games and consoles. I could prob pay off my new vehicle with the money I could make..THE ONLY games IM buying are....SSX,Twisted Metal,BF3,LBP2,Oblivion Skyrim..Then im done keeping up with all of it..I'll save TONS of money in the long run and get outside more.
It's a done deal for me now after gaming compulsively for about 15 years. I've barely played anything in the past few months. I'm just waiting on ME3. After that, I'm done completely.
