Different year, same crap. Wilfred_Owen

Dont know if you were actually OLD enough to even comment? If you were born in 85 or later you are to young to even remember the 80s. They were in fact the birth of EVERYTHING we know and love today from MTV to videogames,to clothing styles, hair styles, slang talk, movies, music,everything...People now days may thing something is so COOL and new until they are told NO it came from the 80s first..The 80s was the best most influential decade ever..

Well, my favourite music spans the late 70s to the 00s, so yeah, the 80s were good. It was a highlight for post-punk, that's for sure.

Film-wise, I think I prefer other decades, but the 80s were still good.

Never was a massive fan of 80s things to be honest. New Romantics? No! Shoulder pads? Heck no!
The 70s were far superior imo.

I guess many here are unaware that many in the 80s didn't appreciate it at the time and, like the 70s, thought that music generally sucked. Only in retrospect did many (not all, I grant) come to appreciate it. So chances are, if you were there in real time TC, you wouldn't have held it as a golden era like you apparently do now.dsmccracken
Not true. The reason people that lived in the 70s complain is because disco was prevalent. The 80s didn't have the problem.

I can't agree with you. The best TV show Glee came out this generation and not in the 80's.

90's were better. Video games were only just starting to get good in the late 80's. By the time the 90's came around we had so many great games. Plus we had Bill Clinton in the 90's.

Internet, Cell phones that aren't the size of air jordans, and a much wider selection of music are the only things that make me glad I'm where I am right now.

[QUOTE="th3warr1or"]

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] I hope you mean the development of alternative and not hair metal.:PLJS9502_basic

*nervous grin*

Eh.. oh, oh yes.. of course. :P

Honestly though, I'd say I was referring to a combination of both.

Oh. 80s metal I'd go with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal that started roughly the late 70s and influenced American metal. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Megadeth etc were popular in the 80s. Not so much the Motley Crues, Poisons etc.

Hmm well Megadeth and Metallica are American thrash, but I do agree that 80s had some great metal.

As long as you just kind of ignore hair metal at least. :P

yes. i live 80's music. i'll take 80's new wave, and Deathrock over indie any day thank you. Industrial music was better IMO too back then. these days it's pretty much turned into rave music.

Ah yes I did enjoy the 1880s quite a lot. The second industrial revolution, the sky-scraper, the great blizzard of 88'. Not to mention the numerous ventures into the shady world of electricity.
