First, I didn't even moderate the guy. I just locked the topic.
And yes, any picture can probably have one or two things squeezed out of it no matter how much it lacks potential. But the problem with those threads is that the proportion of posts with photoshop attempts to total posts tends to be rather low, and many of the photoshop attempts that are made are just stuff like sticking Weegee's head or that "how do I look" guy's head in random locations, and we've seen that a billion times before. This all adds up to just make the threads disruptive more than anything else. It's like shovelware for video games: no matter what it is, someone somewhere is bound to derive some level of entertainment from it, but the lower the quality drops, the more people who are going to be more annoyed by its existence than entertained. Thesethreadattempts can give you a pretty darn good idea of what I mean and of where the thread was probably headed.
All I'm saying is that "photoshop this" threads are really starting to need some low level of quality control. You don't have to post the most perfect picture ever made in history, but three friends hanging out is quite simply not good photoshop material. That's just a fact.
And yes, I'm aware of the fact that if I close the thread, people get annoyed that I closed it. But then, if I leave it be and it predictably ends up with more comments than photoshop attempts, people get annoyed that someone didn't close it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, really.
