Basically, all you have to do is cross your eyes, focus on the middle image generated, and relax. It might take you a while to see it at first, but once you get it down you can do it any time quickly. You will **** bricks.

More in depth tutorial here (includes a starter image)

You can try it on this image below.

Here's a large pic of the moon

Water is prolly the coolest to look at. I would post more pics and some of water, but they're NSFW. Feel free to post your findings and post your own 3d images.

I must suck at this because I can't seem to get it to work. Or maybe I'm just expecting too much, idk.

Took me about 10 minutes to get to work when I first started, now I can do it in 5 seconds. It helps if your eyes are well rested. If you get a headache, stop and try again later.

Between being pretty tired and staring at the computer screen all day for E3 coverage, my eyes are definitely not well-rested. =P And I did have that concussion a few weeks ago and I'm still getting headaches far too easily. Oh well . . .

Try to focus on a point in space. It may be easier to try to hold a pen or finger in front of you and staring at it, then dropping the finger. You can also try looking at your nose.

[QUOTE="roosuu"]I never learned how to cross my eyes. How do I do it?

It's pretty easy, just stare straight ahead and don't focus on ANYTHING. A better term than "cross eyed" would be "letting your eyes go out of focus". To get an idea for what you're supposed to be doing with your eye muscles, put your finger in front of your face. Focus on your finger. Now look at whatever is behind the finger (probably a wall or monitor). You should immediately see two fingers. Your eyes are now "crossed" on your finger. Each eye sees a slightly different view of your finger than the other, so your brain just interprets that as "oh hey, two fingers". The reason they go transparent is that the brain also overlaps what the other eye is seeing so you get to see the finger and what's behind the finger at the same time. For those wondering how this works, you're basically letting your right eye's gaze land on the right picture and your left's gaze land on the left picture. As a result your brain puts the two together to form a third middle image which combines what both eyes are seeing. This creates the illusion of 3D since the way your brain interprets 3D visual space is by contrasting the different view of an object that each eye sees. If there's little difference between eyes then the object is far away. If there's a huge difference though then the object is very close.

Yeah, the principle is the same. The 3DS's screen shows a different image to each eye as long as your face is a correct distance and orientation away from the screen. However, since your eyes are intercepting different "beams" of light and not just trying to combine two side-by-side images there's no need to cross your eyes.

Ok, another glass-less 3d images:

Ok, how to view these pictures in 3d, as i said before just make a lazy eye view and try to keep adjust until you will get the results. I know this is harder than watching 3d anaglyph pictures, but be careful that this would making your eyes painful compared to the 3d anaglyph view mode.

Yeah, and that would explain the two cameras on the back for 3D pictures.

I actually learned this last quarter. Apparently these stereoscopic images are a very popular method of displaying 3D images of proteins or of electron micrographs. I'll see if I can find that image that we were given in class.

Here they are (they are of a yeast cell during budding and throughout various phases of the life cycle):

Yeast cell during budding

Yeast cell during various cell cycle stages

It's still fairly difficult for me to see the 3D but I'm slowly getting faster at it.

You want to focus on the area i have marked and THEN cross your eyes until you see 3 distinct pictures ( instead of just the 2 shown by default). They will be blurry. After you get 3 blurry pictures focus your eyes until they become clear which is when you will see them in 3d.
