They suck regardless of the genre.Darth_Tyrevyeah the genre doesn't really matters, they're still crap.
everyone knows they arent emo...
theyre ummmm how to put it...
well theyre kinda... yah, they fit in the emo
but theyre pretty crazy too
:| it doesnt matter, theyre bad...
They make good pop songs, but for some reason everybody hates them.web966Because it's cool to hate on them. I'm not even joking. I seriously believe that people think they're better because they dislike them. It's like you've got no credibility if you do and God help us if our taste in music isn't commendable.
They're poppy punk rock turned pop rock. [QUOTE="web966"]They make good pop songs, but for some reason everybody hates them.SolidSnake35Because it's cool to hate on them. I'm not even joking. Yes, the hate for them is definately spawned by the need to feel cool and NOT due to the quaitly (or lack of quality) of their music
They are definately not emo, but whatever they are, I don't want to hear them.
I have some reasons for not liking them:
1) They make average pop-punk with no originality in any of their songs.
2) They are mislabeled as emo and as a good follower of that genre I dislike people thinking this is the real emo.
3) I think they sold out in the last few years, since I remember them when their first albums came out and they weren't even mentioned everywhere. Not that I have anything against mainstream bands, but I dislike sellouts.
They're really not emo, they're pop-punk type stuff.
There's real emo, then there's what people have started classifying as emo, and that genre of music is dying out (My Chemical Romance type stuff) The bands remain to be popular, but there are fewer and fewer new bands that sound like them popping up...
fall out boy doesn't fit that classification, whether you like them or not, their cd's sell insanely well, their music is catchy, and they don't spur off cults of fake depressed kids.

MCR is not "real" emo or however you want to call it. They're just anxious scenesters looking for money everywhere they go.

Secondly, it's obviously for attention. There's no need to hate on something you can so easily avoid.
They're so emo they couldn't find their own name. Ripping off The Simpsons. Pathetic.GrouchuA fan chose their name. Making assumptions is pathetic though, you're right.

that's what I said, there's real emo, then there's what everyone started calling emo, which is MCR. They're not "scene" either though, or looking for money really. They'd be finding ways to constantly be in the media if that were so..
[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]emo or not, they are still crap :?SolidSnake35Anything relevant to say? Didn't think so...
It's a thread on fallout boy. References to their crappiness/goodness are obviously relevant.

It's about what genre they are. It's like going into a thread on the American elections and going on a rant about how America is screwing up the world (not that I believe that).Because it's cool to hate on them. I'm not even joking. I seriously believe that people think they're better because they dislike them. I dont dislike them because i think it's cool. :| I frequently rock out to "dead or alive" by Bon Jovi. That's a horrible, cheesy lame-fest of a song but i still blast it in my car when i'm feeling silly because i enjoy listening to it. If i'm out and the Travis Barker remix of Soulja Boy comes on, i'll dance my ass off. I dont care how bad a song it is.
I dont like Fallout Boy, though, because their music is terrible. It's generic to the core. It's completely unoriginal. It has that really common, horrible, whine-rock tone to it (mostly the vocals) which makes it sound like the singer is close to tears, the guitar is crap and repetitive, none of the songs really stand out from each other, the videos are always generic angst-teen stereotypes and overall, it's just really crap music which - much like Brandon Flowers (another idiot, if you ask me...) said - is everything wrong with popular music today.

It's really nothing like that at all. :?
Any thread regarding a band and what genre of music they techincally fall under will inevitably result in comments of the band's overall worth. It's not irrelevant at all. You can discuss the genre, or discuss the fact that the genre is irrelevant for whatever reason eq because they blow.
