Are you asking for double bass drum speed? or fastest tempo in general?

As I Lay Dying? lolnah

Try some George Kollias. And I'm positive there are faster drummers out there. Inferno from Behemoth is good too, Slaves Shall Serve has some sick drumming.

What in the world.... Not to sound elitist (I am going to anyway) but if people are going to post fast drummers, especially within the Metal realm, at least put some good ones. Very terrible drumming, fast uncontrollable snare hits and bass pedals... You learn that stuff within your first months of drumming. :P

Fast can mean a lot of things, I prefer "fast hands" or the jazz busy hands style myself. Within the first minute of the song/solo, he is already going faster than anything posted so far and his posture and control are way more professional.

Ehh, if you wanna talk "Metal Realm" of good drummers...metalheads themselves can sniff out the fast, but sloppy drummers versus the fast/talented drummers themselves.

Eh, that's not so fast. The fastest I've heard myself is by The Berzerker, some drumming is real (LINK), some is done by a drum machine (LINK).

I don't think the TC is referring to that kind of clean speed. Neil Peart is one of the most talented drummers in the world, so it's kind of cheap to show something from him. It's like saying what's you're favorite dunk and showing something from Michael Jordan. It's kind of the obvious choice. In terms of metal speed, he's probably expecting some Cannibal Corpse-esque blast beats, which I think is kind of cheap. I like people like Jon Karel from The Number 12 Looks Like You personally because his cymbal work is smooth, quick and precise. But a song with some obvious speed and talent I can think of off the top of my head...Leica by The Faceless.

Tim Yeung is pretty beast granted I am not too familiar with his work.

You cannot deny how fast/awesome his song Facebreaker by Divine Heresy is though.

Well I don't know about the fastest, but the performance of Moby Dick by John Bonham on How the West Was Won is pretty damn impressive.

I second George Kollias. When I read "As I Lay Dying" I LOL'd.

Quo Vadis also has an awesome drummer. Also, DEFINITELY check out Exivious, they are a great Jazz-Fusion band and have an incredible drummer. But keep in mind that drummers with very fast double bass and/or blast beats are a dime a dozen now a days...

Remember, while speed plays a factor in musicianship, it does not necessarily make a "good drummer."

Anaal Nathrakh uses a drum machine; they only have drummers in live performances. That being said, the drummers that take place in their live performances are very good, but can't completely pull off the sound of their studio albums.
