The sad part is that in the middle east 10 yr. olds can and have got their hands on this gun and have used it.
I doubt a tank could run anAK-47 over an it would keep operating. They're stamped metal, that's why they are so cheap. If you need a weapon the 1947 will get the job done, but they aren't indestructible. Russia didn't have a lot of money (still don't)and one of the most important design specifications of the carbine was that it had to be cheap to produce. The SKS is more rugged than the 47.
MFG, it also depends on who manufactured it. The chinease made some REAL junk. If the machinists can't make the parts right or don't follow excact specs the units will malfunction.
Most guns are easy to use. They're to designed TO BE easy to use, it's a tool, like a hammer. Not some kind of challenging puzzle.
If your going into battle then you want a weapon thats easy to use, low maintenance, reliable and most importantly effective at its sole purpose, to kill an enemy and make sure he/she stays down.
The Russian AK-47 ticks all those boxes and more. While there is different variations on the weapon (AK-74, AK10x series etc) the original version is the one i'd choose. I'd kit it out with scopes or tactical sights for better accuracy at longer ranges. But otherwise its probably the most reliable gun ever created, infact its been declared the best assault rifle ever created by a few TV-shows. Go onto youtube and you'll find the videos.
Archaeologists have documented finding AK-47's dug up from battlefields, and after cleaning the guns they fired perfectly like they did before being buried for decades. That just goes to show how reliable the weapon is!
EDIT - Cheers to whoever pointed out my error in the post lol, removed the wrong info. Still trying to find the link to the article i read about this, i assumed the AK's they dug up were from WW2 lol.

Yeah that sucks, especially for American soldiers but the gun itself was made to protect the Russian motherland.[QUOTE="Darth_Tyrev"]M1 Garand.Anamosa41Same here.I really liked that gun in Medal of Honor Frontline.
Dude, the Russians didn't use the AK-47 during WWII. It was made in 1947, 2 years after the warIf your going into battle then you want a weapon thats easy to use, low maintenance, reliable and most importantly effective at its sole purpose, to kill an enemy and make sure he/she stays down.
