It's a throwdown between The Beatles and The Who for me.

Honerable mentions to The Experience and The Rolling Stones.

The Kinks and The Experience. I consider Led Zeppelin 70's since thats when the majority of their albums were released.

The Beatles I suppose, though I don't listen to a lot of 60s music... Probably more John Lennon than the rest of them.

Seeing as we aren't counting Led Zeppelin, I'm going to have to go with The Beatles. They're far from my favourite band but they are probably the one band I have liked all my life.

Edit: Gonna have to change my answer to The Doors :P.

Either The Beatles or The Byrds, maybe the Beach Boys. The Rolling Stones were also good too.

I would have to say The Rolling Stones though I also like the following bands:

Crosby, Stills & Nash (and Young later on)

Buffalo Springfield

The Who

Jefferson Airplane

Jimi Hendrix

While these bands may have been "70's" bands, their roots go back to the early sixties and their first couple of albums were released in the 60's too:

Grand Funk Railroad

The Guess Who

The Beatles for me
and by far, not even close.

i like 150+ of their songs, closest to that would be The White Stripes with 20ish
but next highest 60's band would be the stones, Can't Always Get What You Want is awesome.

The Beatles. Why? Cause they kick the ass of any modern band today, and just plain-out rock.
