lol maybe 70's. But Alice always has a special spot with me. I met him and he was the nicest dude i have ever met. Plus he has helped alot of other musiscians with their problems(ex. Megadeth). And his music is awesome but thats obvious lol

I thought more people would be saying Zeppelin. Considering how overrated they arexDead_Memoriesx
Zeppelin is a great band, and, imo, far from overrated. They just don't happen to be my favorite '70s band :P.
[QUOTE="xDead_Memoriesx"]So you lived my dream ? haha yeah. Actually my dad(im only 15 so i was like 10 but this was like one of the greatest moments for me) played a round of golf. My dad was the GM of this resort that had a huge ampitheatre(my dads idea for concerts) and he got Alice to come up and play. Pretty cool, actually considering ive seen alot of old bands and met alot too(meaning through my dad's job)lol maybe 70's. But Alice always has a special spot with me. I always see them as extremely overrated. A great band but most people consider them the greatest and they are far from it[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="xDead_Memoriesx"]I thought more people would be saying Zeppelin. Considering how overrated they arexDead_Memoriesx

true. Its all about opinion. I love zeppelin but they were a bit too "hippy" for me. But that is just a matter of taste[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="xDead_Memoriesx"] I always see them as extremely overrated. Black Sabbath and Zeppelin)

So we're including bands that were formed before the 70's?
I'll go with:
The Who
Grateful Dead
Bruce Springsteen
The Band
Eric Clapton

That really doesn't make sense... Led Zeppelin was one of least "hippy" bands formed in the 60's.

For the record, this is Led Zeppelin. And this is a "hippy band". Notice the difference?

Well, i meant... the lyrics were very out there. Really folky if you know what i meanPink Floyd is definitely the top, they might not have had as many hits as Led Zeppelin or AC/DC, but out of any bandfrom that time (and it could be argued today too,) none created more thematically and musically cohesive of albums as they did then. Listening to a Floyd album is like going on a journey.
Pink Floyd because all of their best albums were released during that decade. And The Clash because of London Calling, Give 'em Enough Rope and their original album which were all fantastic.
I would have picked the Stones though if Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed had been released during the 70s.
IMO, the 70's were dead for new music... The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Rush, and The Clash.
There's a lot of people mentioning The Who, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, etc, and they're all 60's bands...

They had albums in the 70s though The Who's "Who's Next" was in 1971 Only 2 of Led Zeppelins albums were in the 60's, and was late 60's.
