amon amarth has the coolest covers i've seen, viking metal ftw.

Its pretty cool if you ask me.

it was made by a famous artist.

EDIT:machinations of dementia by blotted science has a great cover too. i probably cant post it though.

And also the best album ever.

I always liked the old school Boston covers. They usually had really fantastic fantasy scenes that you actually had to look around at to see all the smaller details.

cannibal corpse has some very cool artwork(pretty sure it's the same artist that does them all), but they're music is a bit meh. my friend introduced me to them, and if you think their lyrics are messed, he's showed me bands that are way worse.

also yngwie malmsteen has one cool cover where he is fighting a dragon with his guitar.

I usually don't get into the whole cover art thing. I keep my CDs in wallets, so when I buy one, I just stash the cover somewhere and don't even look at it.

As do I. I was gonna post OoS but got lazy.

Seems like everybody here prefers the ridiculous painting of 'bad ass' monsters and creatures and stuff. Not to mention stuff without creative or unique color schemes, designs, perspectives or patterns. To each their own, I suppose. :?

Might not be terribly creative, but they look awesome, where as minimalist stuff.......tend to be creative but lame IMO

I enjoy a few metal things as well, I'm actually pretty fond of Between the Buried and Me. Which comes as a surprise even to myself. :o :P
