Favorite albums of the year so far?

I know the year isnt over yet and I probably have made this thread before, but so many good albums have come out recently. This year is already better than last music wise, and the year is only half over. These are my favs so far.

Did you like Kasabian's new album more than their last 2? i thought it was better than empire and almost as good as their debut.

Did you like Kasabian's new album more than their last 2? i thought it was better than empire and almost as good as their debut.

Well, there have been some good ones, like Wrath by Lamb of God, Crack the Skye by Mastodon and 16.6 by Primal Fear. but the best one would have to be Black Clouds & Silver Linings b Dream Theater. I just heard it, and it was freaking awesome.

You didn't like their other recent albums? I persnally loved each and every one of them. But the latest one more. Awesome finish for Portnoy's 12-step suite.

Yeah, I didn't like Systematic Chaos one bit. From Octavarium I loved the title track and The Root of All Evil... from Train of Thought I enjoyed Stream of Consciousness, and certain aspects of This Dying Soul and In The Name of God.... yeah.

I like virtually everything about the new album. And yeah, The Shattered Fortress is one of the greatest things this band has ever done, I would love to see the full suite live.

I think Empire tried too hard to be experimental.

Really? I think it is his worst work by far. Too poppy to me. He has really gone downhill since his best album with Soundgarden Louder Than Love.

I actually think he's been getting better and better. I liked soundgarden but that wasnt the type of music i'd normally listen to. I thought audioslave was much better but thats really because of their debut album and a little song on it called getaway car. Carry on was great too but there was something about scream that i loved and whats even better is that when he plays those songs live its absolutely incredible. Its kind of strange to hear songs like spoonman or hungerstrike mixed with part of me and long gone but it really works

Merriweather Post Pavillion is good, but probably wouldn't make my list. One of Animal Collective's weakest releases I'd say.
