Favorite Combat Rifle?

Since few of us have fired the guns we have used countless times in first person shooters...this will have to be based on looks and second-hand knowledge of the guns...OR maybe some of us have actually fired some military guns.

Question: Do you have a favorite combat rifle (including assault rifles)? If so, what is it and why?

I'm currently going through a FAMAS phase...I would buy one if there were any around (a few semi-autos called MAS.223 were imported in the late 80's to the United States but are very rare).

I only military weapons I have fired were from WW2, I fired an M1 and a russian sidearm pistol (not sure of the model)... The M1 was pretty cool, it's a lot heavier than I was expecting and the barrel was much longer than I was imagining.mfp16

Yea, Garands are heavy indeed...but after firing a 98k or Mosin you really can appreciate the firepower advantage of an 8 round semi-auto vs. bolt action guns.

Also, the .30-06 is a massive round. Good choice.

I've only used guns from games, but I would like the opportunity to fire a single shot from a 50 cal.

Since I've never used any type of combat rifle (only hunting rifles, gun control is pretty tight up here) I'll base my choice based only on aesthetics. My favorite is the G36(C), I like the more angular look to it, plus, the Germans make good stuff (at least according to the "Sham Wow" commercial).

Hunting and guns have always been big in my family. The gun I own and most enjoy now is my mini 14. Its fun, fast and relatively cheap to shoot. ( we reload alot of our own ammo. I have got to shoot a 50 cal that a friend of mine owns and a 500 smith and weson ( was the bigest revolver at the time). For pistols I like rugers I own 2 and enjoy them both I got a 9mm and a 40 cal.

ive shot a m16 and its pretty cool, ive also shot a 12 gauge with 3 inch magnum slugs and that has some kick. My shoulder was sore for a couple days after that.

my favorite gun is definately the sig 552 commando

M1 Carbine, Ive been saving to get one for a while. I also like the Lee enfields.

I really want to fire a hk416 that would be sweat, I love how the silencer used the rifled barrel to screw in.

I've always loved the look of the Aug, but i heard from a certain kiwi on this site, they don't have much knockdown power. I'd have to go with the HK416 next.

who needs an assualt rifle when you have one of these?
