Michael Jackson.. Do I need to say any more? He is the most accomplished artist in the history of MUSIC thats a fact. And imo, he is the greatest musical artist of all time.
Also, James Brown. He was Elvis Presley, with more talent and more dancing abilities.
Luther Vandross also comes to my mind. He is one of the greatest singers of all time.
Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Issac Hayes, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Sammy Davis jr, Rick James, Ol Dirty Bastard, Luther Vandross, Muddy Waters, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong the list can really go on.
I love how Micheal Jackson is so respected now that he's dead...When he was alive it was accusations and jokes about his run ins with the law...Guess that makes it alright though because he made a good song or two.
My vote goes to Kurt.
Jimmy Hendrix
Jim Morrison
Andrew Wood
Kurt Cobain
Celia Cruz
Countless classical musician's
Layne Staley
and many many more.
Its very sad when that happens. And its even more sad to admit. I can think of so many other bands and artists who also wen't through that road.I love how Micheal Jackson is so respected now that he's dead...When he was alive it was accusations and jokes about his run ins with the law...Guess that makes it alright though because he made a good song or two.

I'm glad I'm just some of the people who actually cared before that. Oh well, we can't just go around, and call them names and be a dick now... I really hated tabloids for all that ****.

If anything, that would show how much the world treats people like crap.
Michael Jackson.. Do I need to say any more? He is the most accomplished artist in the history of MUSIC thats a fact. And imo, he is the greatest musical artist of all time. He was also one of the bravest person's when it came to philanthropy and just causes. He donated over 250 MILLION dollars to charity
Also, James Brown. He was Elvis Presley, with more talent and more dancing abilities.
Luther Vandross also comes to my mind. He is one of the greatest singers of all time. Sam Cooke wasamazing too.Sam Cookewas also an amazing writer too. If you havent heard A change is gonna to come then you need to listen to it.

I heard that he didnt even know that it was that bad (the sleeping drugs that he was taking). Even though I know he's supposed to be more responsible than that, Conrad Murrey (Michael's Doctor) is supposed to be a FRIGGIN DOCTOR!!!!!. Imma watch Janet talk about it tonight on abc.[QUOTE="mexicangordo"]Yea both of them did, especially Johnny back in 2002/2003. I can make a list of many artists that wen't through it. Its the truth. The doctor told Michael that it was alright and harmless with the "profesional" care.Yay, someone who understands the greatness that was Elliott Smith.I'll say Elliot Smith.
joesh89
I was going to say Elliott Smith, George Harrison, John Lennon, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Mama Cass, Denny Doherty, classical composers, etc.
Not Dimebag Darrell. His guitarwork in the later releases was pathetic. I guess you could give him the credit for creating groove-oriented metal (which isn't a good thing :P).
Just when he died he became immensely popular for no reason at all.
Yeah, and it didn't help that Dean has milked his name for all it's worth.....Not Dimebag Darrell. His guitarwork in the later releases was pathetic. I guess you could give him the credit for creating groove-oriented metal (which isn't a good thing :P).

That's laughable. By 'accomplished' you must mean 'popular and wealthy.' He was not an accomplished artist, and CERTAINLY not an accomplished musician. I don't consider anything Michael Jackson has ever produced to be "art" or "music," so I will refer to it as his "work." I'm willing to assert that Michael Jackson's work contributed more than anything else to the dumbing down and corporatizing of contemporary music. I think it's rather sick that you're putting him above composers like Beethoven, Stravinski, Brahms, Mozart, Wagner and so on, who were utterly brilliant human beings, and whose compositions established and continue to shape intellectual conceptualizations of music around the world.
There aren't words to describe how insignificant Michael Jackson is when his work is put up against centuries of musical innovation by the aforementioned artists and dozens of others. I could go into more detail about how brainless, embecile, and overrated all of his work is, but I'd probably get modded. Suffice it to say, he was a business rather than a msical artist, he persists as such, and nothing he ever produced has any real musical merit.
I hope Pianist sees this thread.
