In your opinion, what movies have the best endings?

Mine would be Saw (first) Silence of the Lambs, Mirrors, The Others, The Dark Knight, and Burn After Reading.

Burn After Reading was in fact great. Made the whole movie. My vote is for Shawshank Redemption.

Tons, but Frailty was distinctive, and while the movie itself was so-so Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke and Lisa bonet had an ending that actually kind of creeped me out. Devils Rejects ended well I will never hear freebird teh same again. Night of the living dead had a classic. Oh there are tons but thats a few I enjoy.

Hm, TSR has a beautiful ending. Also Memento. Summed up the entire movie in four words. Gladiator would also be up there.

Braveheart, no contest.

Runners-up are Gladiator and We Were Soldiers.

It certainly does. Also Seven (hardly a spoiler, but I'm erring on the side of caution)
even though I already knew what was in the box
and Chinatown.

I thought that ending sucked hard, it had nothing to do with the rest of the movie, felt really tacked on imo. Anyway, some of my fav's are Seven, Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, The usual Suspects, Big Fish... I'm sure I'm missing a ton but I can't remember atm :P

Like I said, the film was nothing special, I just like something so hollywood saying "**** humanity" with the scene of slow motion looting and violence, And "Aliens are our creators". Not the kind of stuff I would expect a nicholas cage film to face...

Lucky Number Sleven and movies like it. I like it when stories give an explanation that wrap upall the loose endsin a neat little package in the last few minutes.

There are too many to name. I just saw The Bridge on the River Kwai a few days ago. It's definitely one of my favorite films, and easily one of my favorite endings.

The last 9 minutes of The Return of the King, especially the scene where they are departing for Valinor. The cinematography of that scene is masterful along with the music. I'm kicking myself that I never went to see The Fellowship of the Ring live at the Royal Albert Hall with a live orchestra, but I damn sure won't be missing the next two.
