Choosing my top five favorite films is one thing, but choosing my favorite director is another. I feel that if I choose one, I won't really do any justice for the other ones I really like, so I'll just name a couple of directors that have similar styles that appeal the most to me: Edward Yang, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Pen-ek Ratanaruang.

Other directors that I also enjoy a lot are Wong Kar-wai, Pedro Almodovar, Jean-Luc Godard, Stanley Kubrick, Park Chan-wook, Federico Fellini, and Francois Truffaut.

I'm not very 'gourmet' with film directors, but I quite like Zhang Yimou.

Kubrick, Nolan (I liked him before TDK), David Fincher, James Cameron, and Tim Burton. Thats all I can think of right now. Hopefully someone will mention the ones I cant recall at this moment.

EDIT: Forgot Ridley Scott.

Most people who say George A. Romero is their favorite mostly only see his zombie movies, have any of you Romero fans here seen his lesser known films like Martin, The Dark Half, The Crazies or KnightRiders? I Think Martin is his best movie though most say his zombie movies are.

Peter Jackson.

I would have said George Lucas as well, but almost every SW film since Return of the Jedi has been massively flawed. That he puts his seal of approval on a lot of other stupid stuff has also destroyed my faith in him. If I want anything new from him, I'll watch his older work I haven't seen yet. I.E. THX 1138

I said Michael Bay as a joke, but, honestly, he's not as bad as people make him out to be. He allows himself to make crap scripts, but the technical elements of his films are great.

Uwe Boll....not so much.
