Alright OT, what have been your favorite movies of the year thus far, and what films are you looking forward to for late this year (aka oscar bait season).

Let's hear em!

For me so far this year, it'll be the following:

The Tree of Life

Midnight in Paris

Submarine

Win Win

and Super 8.

Anticipated upcoming:

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (David Fincher version of course)

Drive

The Rum Diary

Contagion

and On The Road

Ah, that's too bad :( It really is something else. Definitely buy the DVD (or blu ray depending on what you have) when it comes out!

I plan on it. I actually prefer watching movies in my home theater since I can watch them in my boxers and nobody can judge me.

Super 8, haven't seen many yet, but I have a feeling it might snatch up a few Oscars.

Haven't seen any Oscar worthy films yet, but I did have fun watching Horrible Bosses and Fright Night.

Planet of the Apes was pretty good. I don't know about Oscar worthy though. Then again most of the Oscar nominated films I never see.

The best movie I've seen all year was Super 8. I missed most of the movies I wanted to see.

I've seen Super 8, Harry Potterand Source Code. Like others, Tree of Life didn't come out near me.

I'm excited for:

1) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (reading the book right now, love it)

2)The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn

3) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

4) And I'll probably see J. Edgar with my dad

Oh and of course, Breaking Dawn: Part 1
JK:P
I wish The Hunger Games would come out this year:evil: Oh well, I can wait. A lot of good looking movies next year.

I've seen so many movies this year, but none have been Oscar worthy for sure...I'd say Super 8 was the closest to being really good, but HP has to get some dap. I think I've seen some great scary movies this year, but there is still more to come!

My favorite movie of the year so far is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. I'm sure it will get a nomination for effects or makeup or something.

Saw Harry Potter 7 last night. Balled my eyes out at the end. Going to see 8 tomorrow. The series just got so f***ing dark from Goblet of Fire on. I really enjoy it... but it gets so depressing at points.

Actually I think the changed happened in Prisoner of Azkaban.

Darker stuff started happening in Prisoner of Azkaban, but the kids were still doing fun things. After Goblet of Fire it's all like "Aw s***, the whole world is going to s*** and there's no hope for good in it anywhere until we fix this".

I'm with you there. Rather just wait until the end of the year and see which films come out on top, watch them then.

If you exclude some of the Oscar winners that came out here late the best thing I've seen is probably The Tree of Life. But I also hope some of the women from The Help are nominated for Best Actress, Supporting etc.

Azkaban was a dark movie (and the best in the series so far), but Voldemort was still nowhere to be seen. Once the port key scene hit, someone died and things got serious all of a sudden... that is when the series took its dark turn. And the ending of 6 is when all hope is lost. 7 is just downright depressing.

Certified Copy is still holding the top spot in my estimation and I don't really pay attention to the Oscars.
