Hey, what's your favorite horror movie or movies to come out in this new millinium?

I love:

The Ring 1 and 2
Saw (all of them)
The Strangers

I think they are all fantastic, demented, and rad. The freakier, the better.

Samara Morgen scared the **** out of me the first time I saw it. It really is some morbid ****.

The 2000s have probably had the worst horror movies in any decade. That said, Let the Right One In, which I just saw two days ago.

Either 28 Days Later or The Descent. I've just realised that all of my favourite recent horror movies have been British :P.

I'm going to watch Let The Right One In again tonight. I've only seen it once, which was in the theater. I'm curious if my opinion will change.

I've seen The Orphanage twice, and I liked it even more on my second viewing.

I've watched The Orphanage quite a few times, but since it came out on DVD my local Blockbuster hasn't had it in, I've gone in everyday hoping for it, but no luck so far

You of all people should see it. I've seen a few of your posts saying that the Vampire element in films are ruined, maybe this film will change your opinion..

I just love my zombie movies. A lot of the other horror movies I have seen have the same lame monsters of whatever you call them. Always have like limbs twisted sideways or a backwards face or something and that sure gets old. All those monsters that jusut look like a uni-colored old person with tight skin aren't scary at all, maybe surprising at a part or two in the movie but never scary. Difference between being surprised and scared. I do like the suspense some of them have though.

May I ask how you saw [REC]? It's not released it in the states. I'm thinking about just downloading it, but I'm afraid that will ruin the experience.

The Dawn of the Dead remake was really good. I did enjoy The Ring and The Grudge. I really didnt like many horror movies this generation, all I watch is pretty much horror, so Ive seen pretty much everything. I also really didnt mind Rob Zomies Halloween, I thought it was a decent attempt at a remake, and it really did give a different feel.

The Decent is the scariest in my opinion. It took a terrifying concept (Being trapped in a cave system where you're not even sure if there's another way out) and threw in some flesh eating monsters that were actually kind of scary.

That said, I think 28 Days Later is my favorite. I just think the acting, the story, and the directing all came together to make one fantastic film. Plus, unlike The Decent, it actually gave you some time to breathe midway through.

Download and watch [REC] before you see Quarantine if possible. It is a great movie, really creepy and jumpy scenes. Turn the lights off.

I'll have to say The Grudge, freaked the hell out of me that's for sure. Don't know why though, I'm a horror movie veteran. Maybe I just don't like the prospect of blue asian women with crushed windpipes. =P
