Since OT has undoubtedly the greatest knowledge of music anywhere on the internet, I figured I'd make a thread asking who are your favorite jazz drummers.
Art Blakey
Elvin Jones
Max Roach
Billy Cobham
Buddy Rich

Sigh, can't say I know any of those. The only one I know about is Futureman, but that's mostly because of his not paying bills because "he's from the future" and that he plays a drumitar. I'll check out those links and see if they are any good.
The video with Max Roach was great!
Danny Carey of Tool actually has a doctorate degree in jazz drumming, and I would have to say him.

Yes, but it's jazz-based drumming applied to progressive music...who cares what they get classified as.
Wait, how does Tool utilize jazz drumming?Wait a second... They don't.

He's still not a jazz drummer. He's a progressive/rock drummer that is sort of jazz influenced, but not a jazz drummer.
Buddy Rich. He's one of my favorite drummers period.
Im gonna come out and say this...I can't get into Max Roach. Technically he's good but I just cant feel it. Am I the only one?
