At the moment it's The Shining but honestly it's been a long while since I've revisted Barry Lyndon and now that I have a nice blu ray copy of it I have a feeling that may change...or not. Potato not potato.

Full Metal Jacket was the only one I enjoyed watching (most of the others felt like a chore to go through), but I haven't seen all of his offerings yet. Eyes Wide Shut was definitely intriguing, but felt incomplete. I especially loved the opening sequence in the mansion... so creepy.

A Space Odyssey followed closly by Full Metal Jacket. Only watched A Clockwork Orange once and it just wasn't for me. Was also pretty drunk though so it was not an ample time to watch a movie like that. A bit too nutty for me even for Kubrick.

I see a lot of the usual suspects mentioned here: 2001 A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and I'm sure others will post Dr. Strangelove.

So I'm going to break the mold and go with Paths of Glory. Probably his most emotionally charged movie if you ask me.

Not 2001

I liked FMJ and Spartacus, though it's been so long since I've seen the latter that I don't remember much about it.

Paths of Glory. One of my all time favorites, particularly for its ending. The only thing that hurts the film is Timothy Carey's performance, which suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

Actually I don't hate anything except mainstream....and I actually only hate the attention. Kubrick is personal taste. Nothing more...nothing less.

I don't hate the stuff because it's mainstream....I mostly pay no attention to it. I hate the media jumping on bandwagons and pushing things out to the public...which increases demand and leaves other deserving products behind. Sadly marketing makes sheep of people.

there are so many great ones, but ill go with barry lyndon. the steadycam work in his later films gets a lot of attention, but the stillness in barry lyndon is used to great effect. coupled with the compositions, it gives the initial impression thats its like a painting as if for mere novelty. however, that sense of fancy goes away and the viewer is hit with the realization that its a dreadful stillness. for a film about chance, everything is seemingly set in stone. it might be nihilistic if it werent so humanist (something i dont think kubrick gets enough credit for).

Not gonna lie, Kubrick's adaptation was less than inspiring.

Although it's a difficult book to adapt to a movie so I don't fault him for it.
