He might be a weird outer space alien worshiper but he's a great actor who makes awesome movies.
My favorite is Collateral. It's the only movie he's played the antagonist and Vincent was a great character.

Last Samurai and Tropic Thunder. Since I've noticed it though, I can't look at his face and not see his "middle tooth". If you don't already know, google image search (cuz IDK how to post pics from mobile) "Tom Cruise middle tooth"- it will blow your mind and is proof Scientology is comprised of lizard people.
@Gamerno6666:
Mission Possible is always one of my favorites. Me and friend had an all weekend mission impossible watching marathon. Definitely a great time .
I actually like him in "Edge of Tomorrow" so I'll go with that and despite I like his Mission Impossible movies, I really enjoy Edge of Tomorrow.
His worst ever movie has to be "The Mummy" reboot and it didn't have the charm from Branden Fraiser Mummy series.
Used to be War of the Worlds but after recently watching it, little girl (Rachel) in it is even more unbearable than I remembered. Ugh....
Vanilla Sky without a doubt...
There is a War Of The Worlds truer to the novel getting made now. I'm glad it's happening, removing the Victorian era and all the subtext of the book just turned it into a rather mindless movie. It's probably one of Spielberg weakest movies once you get past the special effects. Couldn't think of a single character I gave a shit about.
Jeff Wayne's adaption is great. Would have made for an awesome musical movie.

Both kids were annoying in War of the Worlds.
Edge of Tomorrow
My wife hates Tom Cruise but I got her to watch this film.
"I'm not watching this. It's got Tom Cruise in it."
"Trust me. If you have Tom Cruise, you really wanna watch this film."
Then she proceeds to gleefully watch Tom Cruise get rekt more than Genos in One Punch Man.
I wouldn't lump all the MI films together, because they vary wildly in quality. MI1 was popular but a pretty crappy film. MI2 was cheesy but I'm a big John Woo fan so I liked it's style-over-substance. MI3 was alright. Better than 1 but not great or memorable. They didn't start getting good until 4 and 5, which were both pretty solid.
Legend is great.
American Made was decent.
Collateral was very good.
Surprised nobody has voted for Jack Reacher yet. Of the three "middle age famous actor whoops ass" films that came out around the same time (Jack Reacher, John Wick, The Equalizer), I'd put Reacher as Number 2 after Wick.

That's tough. Tom Cruise has a ton of good movies. If I had to pick one it would probably be The Last Samurai.
I would have to say Oblivion. Good movie.
Always liked the MI series. Also loved his cameo in tropic thunder.
That character was fantastic!
Can't stand him but Vanilla Sky was really good.
I think he's pretty batshit, but looking over his filmography I can't understand why people would hate him, at least not as an actor. He's been in a lot of really great movies.
As for my pick, I'd say Minority Report.
Minority Report
Collateral
Edge of Tomorrow
Great list! I'd add Top Gun to that list and call it the Tom Cruise Crucial Catalog.
