I love tomatoes and for fruit I gotta go with necturines...Airsoul
Tomato IS a fruit, and my fave, and celery as my veg.
Not to sound like a smartass,but...Tomatoes are a fruit... >_> Celery for Vegetables...and Banana's or Pomegranate for Fruit.AtomicBaconBits
Who cares? It's pretty much used as a vegetable everywhere. SO my favourite fru.... ehm vegetable is still tomato and grapes or pineapples are probably my fruit of choice.

Not to sound like a smartass,but...Tomatoes are a fruit... >_>
harashawnIt depends. "Scientifically" it is considered a fruit. But from a culinary point of view, it's a vegetable. The culinary perspective is obviously inaccurate. The reason for why they aren't referred to as fruit is probably because tomatoes are prepared as "veggie food." That, and perhaps because tomatoes aren't sweet, as the TC said.

They changed it b/c it's actually a fruit. Fruit = ovary thus tomato = fruit
For me I'll go with carrots for favorite vegetable, while for my favorite fruit I'll say almonds.

That's the idea I've been going up against. If a tomato didn't meet the circumstances of being labelled as a fruit, it would have remained known as a vegetable. Interesting discussion, don't you think?

I wouldn't mind trying to figure your origin out by playing vegetable doctor with you.

The word "vegetable" is not a botanical term. It's strictly a culinary one. So in a sense Tomatoes can be considered both.
just accept it. Tomatoes are fruit. end of story! :P
Fruit:Banana
sAndroid17
Vegie: Potato(mashed)
The culinary world disagrees with you!
Also, Potatoes are neither fruit nor vegetable. :P
I don't play favorites but if I've to choose I would say:
Fruits: Strawberries & Bananas
Vegetable: Potatoes & Brocoli
