Yeah, I have only been playing Bass since like last July... but I enjoy it. Before that I tried Guitar for a few months and was too hard... but I am glad I play Bass now. By the way, what band is Les Claypool out of?Ashley_wwe
Primus.

BTW, ive tried playing my friends guitar a few times. Im glad i went with bass, I just cant get use to how small the guitar strings are. They hurt my fingers.
...:|[QUOTE="Ilived"]Nobody really cares about bass players to be honest. I see in concert one guy going nuts but you can't even notice wtf he's doing. Is he playing? I don't here crap. No offense.Def_Jef88

Yeah, not only that, but I could only barely play American Idiot (apart from that I can't see how people do power chords...), like if it was something else simple like Blink 182 if you like, I would be sitting there like *8 same power chords in a row then sitting there about 5 seconds trying to move to the next note* lol.
By the way does anybody ever play with a plectrum? I am just wondering because people don't seem to... I haven't got used to slapping yet but I like using a plectrum...
I play Bass myself. Havent been playing long, but im pretty good for a beginner.
My personal favorite is Les Claypool. Hes probably my favorite artist period...

Les is great! I'll go with him too.
I love that video of Primus playing the Master of Puppets intro on youtube.
EDIT: Stupid GS won't let me quote the pic...

Could you honestly imagine Rage Against The Machine without a bassist?-_Jeremy_-
Yeah... that's another great Bass player... and playing Sleep Now In The Fire hurts my fingers lol

Ive never tried using a pick. The way my teacher taught me to play is to pick at the strings back and forth with the middle and index finger in a "walking" fashion or so he called it.[QUOTE="Ilived"]Nobody really cares about bass players to be honest. I was okay at it, but now I have completely forgotten how to do it (talent-wise not actual knowledge), but for songs like DragonForce don't you have to use a pick?

ive honestly never tried any of there songs. Ive been playing alot by bands like Disturbed and Gorillaz. They both generally have very easy bass lines.[QUOTE="-_Jeremy_-"][QUOTE="Ilived"]Nobody really cares about bass players to be honest. Is it possible to use your fingers really fast on the Bass though?

Oh, I don't know if any of you guys know but in a few years they are bringing out Guitars that you just turn one of the switches to change the tuning, does anybody know if that will ever happen with Bass too?... I have trouble tuning up as I am pretty new to it.
Well... in a few years, assuming you still keep up with the bass, that shouldn't be a problem. It comes naturally after a while.Oh, I don't know if any of you guys know but in a few years they are bringing out Guitars that you just turn one of the switches to change the tuning, does anybody know if that will ever happen with Bass too?... I'm not sure if they're going to release a bass similar to the guitars you mentioned, though.
By the way, I know Bass players don't really use them, but does anybody hear use any pedals?if so I would like to think about getting some myself...Ashley_wwe

I don't. Not into that kind of stuff too much. Industrial music is what I like but if I do here a band, the bass player is like not even there.

Popular effects are Distortion or Wah and Auto-wah. You should check out some stuff with Bootsy Collins(there are some good ones on Youtube :) ) .
