Me, I'm my own favourite! Anyways, I have a lot.. Bootsy Collins, Les Clypool, Paul Simonon, Larry Graham and John Norwood Fisher are all awesome. I find it extremely hard to pick one that stands out in the crowd. Flea's pretty cool too.

Check it out; Fishbone, with Fisher performing the song Bonin' in the Boneyard. :D

Yeah, not only that, but I could only barely play American Idiot (apart from that I can't see how people do power chords...), like if it was something else simple like Blink 182 if you like, I would be sitting there like *8 same power chords in a row then sitting there about 5 seconds trying to move to the next note* lol.

By the way does anybody ever play with a plectrum? I am just wondering because people don't seem to... I haven't got used to slapping yet but I like using a plectrum...

I used to play the double bass. I still do, from time to time, but not as often now.

We don't care about bass players when they suck. Hell, no one cares about a musician when they suck. But when a bass player is going nuts, and he's good..you might not be able to here it, but it sure makes a difference when it's not there.

Could you honestly imagine Led Zeppelin, Rage Against The Machine, Rush, Living Colour and Cream without a bassist?

Ive never tried using a pick. The way my teacher taught me to play is to pick at the strings back and forth with the middle and index finger in a "walking" fashion or so he called it.

Yeah I have tried that before... I was okay at it, but now I have completely forgotten how to do it (talent-wise not actual knowledge), but for songs like DragonForce don't you have to use a pick?

Most rock music would simply crash without the bass. Bass does so much for the music even if most people won't even notice that it's there.

Oh, I don't know if any of you guys know but in a few years they are bringing out Guitars that you just turn one of the switches to change the tuning, does anybody know if that will ever happen with Bass too?... I have trouble tuning up as I am pretty new to it.

Well... in a few years, assuming you still keep up with the bass, that shouldn't be a problem. It comes naturally after a while.

I'm not sure if they're going to release a bass similar to the guitars you mentioned, though.

I don't. Not into that kind of stuff too much. Industrial music is what I like but if I do here a band, the bass player is like not even there.

Sure they use effects. Popular effects are Distortion or Wah and Auto-wah. You should check out some stuff with Bootsy Collins(there are some good ones on Youtube :) ) .
