For me its Zakk Wylde.

Slash, Dimebag Darrel and Jimi Hendrix aren't far behind though.

Kirk Hammett! He's great, i like many others guitarists aswell:D But Kirk's my fav:PDan_Lero

This and James Hetfield! I don't care if he's not technically one of the best, he just **** rocks.

Alexi Laiho is the best. by far.

Dave Mustaine is my fave.

Runners up (in no order): Mart Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, and The guys from Dragonforce (they can barely play anything from Inhuman Rampage, but they are still funny as hell and seem like nice people.)

Freddie King, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tommy Bolin, BB King, Jeff Beck, Albert King, etc.

Ouch, this is really tough. I really love Zacky Vengeance (even though he's rhythm, he's effing amazing o.O), Dimebag, Eric Johnson, Buckethead... There are just so many to choose from, but I think I'm going to have to go with Slash. Not only is he an absolutely fantastic guitar player, he has an awesome fro-perm type thing, and an even more awesome tophat ^_^

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot... Dan Donegan is pretty awesome too...Curse you world of amazing guitar players!
