These are some of my favourite quotes.

I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps "Oh look at that!" Then - whoosh, and I'm gone... and they'll never see anything like it ever again, and they won't be able to forget me - ever.
Jim Morrison

There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors.
Jim Morrison

Drugs are a bet with your mind.
Jim Morrison

Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.
Winston Churchill

History is written by the victors.
Winston Churchill

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.
Winston Churchill

I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.
Winston Churchill

If you go on with this nuclear arms race, all you are going to do is make the rubble bounce.
Winston Churchill

Kites rise highest against the wind - not with it.
Winston Churchill

These are just a few. What are some good quotes you know?

"Marines are about the most peculiar breed of human beings I have ever witnessed. They treat their service as if it was some kind of cult, plastering their emblem on almost everything they own, making themselves up to look like insane fanatics with haircuts to ungentlemanly lengths, worshipping their Commandant almost as if he was a god, and making weird animal noises like a band of savages. They'll fight like rabid dogs at the drop of a hat just for the sake of a little action, and are the cockiest SOB's I have ever known. Most have the foulest mouths and drink well beyond man's normal limits, but their high spirits and sense of brotherhood set them apart and , generally speaking, of the United States Marines I've come in contact with, are the most professional soldiers and the finest men I have had the pleasure to meet."  ~ Anonymous Canadian Citizen

Something like "A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human being is constituted to be that profound mystery to every other." That's from a Tale of Two Cities. My other is "If after every storm came such calm, let the winds blow till they have wakened death." That's from the Temptest, though I may have gotten the wording wrong on those.

He's the lead vocals for "The Doors". He was a drug addict, but one of the most amazing poets of the last 50 years.

"Eckhart saw Hell too. He said: The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth."-Louis in Jacob's Ladder

Vonnegut was awesome. I didn't know he had actually seen the aftermath of the Dresden fire bombing until after I had finished Slaughterhouse V. It really makes me respect the work and the author a lot more.

Yeah, the movie was based on a true story, wasn't it? And the guy used morse code to tell them "Kill me".

That's the story I heard anyway.

I don't know if it's true, but a sad story still. His father said every man must face death on his own, and wouldn't kill him.

O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle-be Thou near them! With them, in spirit, we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it-for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
