Haha I thought it was funny, but in reality I do agree with their cause. Maybe not everything such as making piracy easier. But the truth is censorship and taking away freedoms is the worst thing a governent can do. Once you object one freedom, it makes all other freedoms and "rights" "given" to a citizen look unstable.
They wont find them.

Only takes one of them to crack for an award or a deal or something.
Then the rest start falling like dominoes.
I agree with them on the DDOS not being a criminal activity but only to a point. If you hit a site with a DDOS for something like half a day when the cause is justified they shouldn't be hit with criminal charges, but the stealing of information crosses the line.
Did he really just say "they think that all our bases belong to them"?SolidSnake35"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down" at the end also :P

[QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]I love how easily the word "terrorist" is thrown around these days. I know right? Anyway I support the idea behind Anonymous. Censorship is the enemy of free speech and without free speech we might as well say goodbye to everything we believe in.Good. They don't make people laugh and they don't solve any problems. They're terrorists.

[QUOTE="ColonelVodka"]I disagree, they're actually changing things, whether you think what they're doing is good or bad. Not Anonymous. The video.haha, this is a joke.

I like how the guy says, "we're just blocking access to a service, that is all" as if what he's doing is ok and that he shouldn't be punished for doing so. Stopping potentially millions of people from being able to do something should be punishable and I hope he goes to prison. I'm also waiting for the time when one of the people in Anonymous wants to take claim for what they did instead of crediting all of the group for his own actions, then he gets sent to prison as a result. Ghost_702
How is it different from walk outs and strikes and the like? That acheives the same thing.

How are they changing things? Even at the times I supported Anons cause, their "attacks" are often juvenile and accomplish nothing, though, to be fair, there have been a couple really cool things people claiming to be a part of Anonymous have done (like catching internet child predators). But literally anyone can become a member, or do something anonymously online and claim to be a member, meaning that for every one of these cool things, there is multiple members of Anonymous doing something like ordering 100 pizzas and sending it to the house of someone they disagree with, putting up the personal information of some poor teen that started a "No Cussing" club and sending hate mail to his house, or (purportedly) attacking epilepsy forums. How can you possibly take that seriously?
They claim to want freedom of information on the internet, but many of their attacks prevent just this. Even though ColonelVodka was referring to the video, they really are a joke.

A terrorist being one who tries to bring about change via fear.
Just because they aren't blowing people up doesn't mean they aren't trying to coerce others via fear.

Anonymous themselves try to stifle free speech.

As you stated it's a group with many "multiple members". As such (in any group really) you're going to find that there are different people within the group that have different attitudes. And of course the stupid things they do will get more publicity. But their main goal isn't a joke. And there are people within that group that strive towards it. So no, I don't consider them a "joke". Which is imo the worst possible adjective to describe them as seeing as it has no intellectual value whatsoever and is simply used as an adjective due to those who use slang. If I were on your side, if anything I'd go all Holden style and call them "phonys."I love how easily the word "terrorist" is thrown around these days.[QUOTE="dramaybaz"][QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]

I guess my landlord is a terrorist then. He threatened me once to tell me to the rent on time, OR ELSE; I would be kicked out of the apartment. You can label anything as a terrorist seeing how general those terms are. Don't play the definition game.I disagree, they're actually changing things, whether you think what they're doing is good or bad.[QUOTE="Nickprovs"][QUOTE="ColonelVodka"]

At the very least they foster discussion on the issues they take a stand on. That right there is something. Especially when that discussion reaches the mainstream media as we saw in that video. As you stated it's a group with many "multiple members". According to Merriam Webster:
Joke (noun)
1a: something said or done to provoke laughter; especially: a brief oral narrative with a climactic humorous twist b (1): the humorous or ridiculous element in something (2): an instance of jesting
2: something not to be taken seriously : a trifling matter
English isn't my first language, so maybe I am using it wrong, but the second definition of joke seems to fit.
And what is this main goal of theirs that you speak of? They seem all over the place to me.
