In a recent movement of twitter the hashtag #shoutyourstatus is currently trending of feminist shouting out how proud they are of having STDs and embracing unprotected sex

All I can say, good! More reasons to stay away from you! XD
How about if you get an STD, get it treated? That's all you need. No need to shame women or men for getting stds, and no need to not get them treated because you are "empowered".
People don't want to hate themselves so they come up with these things. They are ashamed of having STD's and sick of it so they "empower" themselves by doing this silliness. If it makes them happier I'm ok with it. Better than not telling people and then infecting them I suppose. People are funny.

So, you're okay with them spreading the disease and continue on having unprotected sex? That's the message based on, yes they're telling you they have STD's but they're also telling you to stay the fuq away from them :P

Where are they saying that they aren't telling people about it? All I see is them telling people about it. If they tell someone they have an STD and they still want to have unprotected sex with them then I cant have a problem with that I guess. Is that whats going on? I have to admit I'm not really in the loop on this thing.

I have what may be a stupid question. Does this actually have anything to do with feminism? Men obviously have STD's too. I do feel terrible for these women though. Life can be awful.
While I'm at it I have another dumb question. Why is saying STI better than STD? Why are we constantly changing the name and acronyms of things?

I wonder how that works? No, I'm still not getting it. I guess that was true with aids in the 80's / 90's.
You know a couple of years ago you would have seen more people agree with this.
Man I cringed saying that.

Like who? I'm curious! :D
That phrase, "The children are our future" scares the shit out of me. The 20-somethings of today want to play the victim so bad that they create strife and controversy whenever it's convenient. I've been told racism isn't as much of an issue today as sexism......Now those with STI's are being oppressed? $15 an hour to flip burgers? Who do we blame for this and how do we fix it?

What I said didn't apply to gamespot users, I can't list any users. I'm just talking about people I know in real life. Maybe it is because I used to live in Washington but....
There is an abundance of people in Washington who would've agreed had it not been for Hillary messing up. People's opinions here have been changing somewhat, maybe its just me but that is how I feel.
It seems obvious now but I don't that it was apparent to many people before.
EDIT: when I say abundance I mean there's way more people who would have agreed than there should be which is kind of sad actually.
@FireEmblem_Man: I wouldn't be proud of contracting an std, but I also wouldn't shame anyone over it. I'm sure she didn't set out to get infected for empowerment.
Hope she's responsible enough to let her partner know.
This isn't about shaming anyone, in fact I don't see a trend of slut shaming at all. If someone wants to dress in sexy lingerie in school, so be it, but you still have to abide to the dress code. And like you said, they better be responsible of letting their partner know that they contracted the disease. But honestly, my problem isn't about shaming others about getting STI, it's more about glorifying it and continuing having unprotected sex spreading the disease further.
Not in this particular case, but there is a stigma attached to having an std.
After reading the first twitter post again. I have a problem with what she's saying. No one sets out to get an std, not a reasonable person at least. So that to me is a perfect example of a poor choice leading o a negative consequence.

Oh, I agree completely! She was the one that started the twitter trend TBH.
There's a difference between being proud of having an STD and not wanting to be shamed for having an STD. Having an STD is bad enough without society forcing you to feel ashamed.
That doesn't mean I agree with the wording of the first tweet. If you got an STD then obviously in hindsight you made a bad choice somewhere, but why should someone be shamed simply for making a bad choice, especially one that has no effect on you?
Those tweets kind of imply that they're delibrately avoiding treatment in favour of fighting the "stigma" of having contracted an STD.
If that's really the case, I say shame away people!
Getting an STD is almost certainly due to having risky, unprotected sex. Call it what you want, but excuse me if I (and well, everyone else with a brain) see it for what it is...risky/poor decision making. I realize there are some instances where people got an STD from a blood infusion or accidentally but that's not what I'm talking about.
You know, and especially in the SJW/gay/etc community you would think they would take STD's seriously and not something to be proud of. If you look at the HIV rates in the gay community it's nothing to be proud of and clearly behavior is playing a role.
SO what you're saying is that there are crazy people out there.
Good, gotcha, got it. Good to know.
*this is just like that phase where women were "proud" of their periods and were posting pictures of their period-stained shorts or pants online as some sort of protest or whatever. We get it, having your period is feminine, but that's not why we don't like your period; we don't want to see it because it's gross, not because you're a woman. I mean, crap is more gross, but I think I'd rather be pissed on than have period blood any where near me. Got nothing to do with you being a woman, it's just gross, is all, that's why I don't like it and don't want to see it, be near it, smell it, etc.
Likewise, I don't think it is good to be proud of STDs; first off, they're harmful to yourself and others, and they're gross. Not really something to be proud of. But I can totally see some college-age sick-in-the-head third-wave feminist bimbo with her entire life ahead of her going out, trying to get an STD, then spreading it to "mankind" because it should be "humankind".
Hopefully, like the period phase (period period?), this will piss off the real feminists as much as it does the rest of the world and it will end.
Just going to put this right here:
Do you folks remember Sandra Fluk who complained and testified before Nancy Pelosi because she liked to sleep around and wanted the government to pay for her birth control pills and when the folks on the right complained it was a war pn women. Now they are getting STD what do they want now.
It's weird how these women say it's not their choice when they get an std. To a small extent, yes. Many stds can be contracted without knowledge of the person receiving them. However, claiming that it's not your fault when you made the choice to have sex with that person, is absurd. They act as if STD's are somehow not a result of a poor choice is equally asinine.
People don't want to hate themselves so they come up with these things. They are ashamed of having STD's and sick of it so they "empower" themselves by doing this silliness. If it makes them happier I'm ok with it. Better than not telling people and then infecting them I suppose. People are funny.

A tenant of regressive liberals is trying to make obviously unhealthy or blatantly bad things ok; weight, violence.....stds....
