So i was checking out espn 360 to see what was on and I see the USA vs Iran in beach soccer...  Explain to me, how does one get picked for the beach soccer national team?  I mean do these guys start playing on a pitch then some beach soccer scout says u know I think you'd be better suited for sand!
It's kinda neat cause every minute or so there's a bicycle kickor some random juggling act.
Anyone else heard fo this before?

Nah, I thought that was something you just played for fun at the beach. I would never have guessed it was actually a professional sport. :?

yea very different rules.  4 men to a team plus a goalie.  And u can pass back to the goalie any time and he can pick it up.

Makes sense. There must be a lot of mis-hits with slipping in the sand and everything.

You can't always back pass, you back pass once and then the ref holds his hand up and if you do it again it´s a free kick, not exactly sure when you allowed to back pass again after that though. It's fun to watch see some really cool goals.

yea but certainly a lot of down time between the action.  So many times the guy just stands on the ball and passes it between him and the keeper 4 times before they actually do anything.
As much as I like the scoring, too much of it comes on free kicks.  Are they not allowed to build walls or put men on the posts?
