They wouldn't know unless he referenced it. Why wouldn't you use it as a reference? It could only hurt if he pissed everyone off and left on a bad note.

Just because you hate a job, doesn't mean you should leave it off your resume and/or application for another job. If by chance he did leave it out and somehow they found out that he worked elsewhere and didn't put it on the application, they could look at that as a downfall and become suspicious as to why he didn't want to reference it.

I agree. At jobsites, it would look good on the resume when you've proven you've had some sort of work experience. Oh, and try not to botch the references...stupid me put only the names of people I know there, and almost didn't get accepted :P.

This. He must've failed a drug test or something. I've been told they're not allowed to release that type of information but I've also been told they "volunteer" it sometimes.

I think it depends on the state. I know in Tennessee, the only thing references can admit to is that you once worked for them. Although, they are allowed to say good things about former employees which kind of makes the law stupid. If an employer has nothing good to say about you, then that seems to be a red flag.

They wouldnt find out but it would be better to put it and say he left to find a new challenge than just say he done nothing for that time.

the more jobs you put, the more experience you've had in different areas.

This. Unless there is an extremely good reason to not list a job, you're better off to list all of your experiences.

You still put it on your application. It's work experience.

I always thought it was better to put "Not during work" instead. Makes you look more professional and responsible.

Not if you are changing jobs every 2-3 months, though. Stability is something that a lot of employers value.
