In a "wow, what a film sense": The Usual Suspects
In a lesson-to-be-learnt sense (kinda): The Fox and the Hound and Leon.
A.I Artificial Intelligence, I was never really close to my mom, so this film really struck home because it rattled something that was dead in me for a long time. I never get along with my mom because I barely know the language she speaks anymore (spanish) so I can never figure out about her, and she can never figure out about me cause she doesn't understand english all too well.
It's probably reason why I always seek out motherly attributes in women, attributes that I don't want applied to a potential child, but to me. And it's probably why I'm so against the idea of having kids.
Yeah.. i watched just yesterday...a documentary called Ganja Queen...basically a girl get used as a mule to smuggle some pot(10lbs) into indoeisa or india(whatever)....and they had plenty of evidence to prove that she had no knowledge of the pot when she got into india...but there stupid ass gov. was blind and stupid and did not listen to the evidence at all... and gave her 20 years in prison for something she did not do.....and in that country the maxium pentaly for smuggling is DEATH.... they actual thought about killing her OVER POT... in other country this stuff is legal.....
But anyway i felt really bad for this girl...because shes stuck there right NOW for something she did not do...
Two movies come to mind and both are recent films Children of Men is the first http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/
And the second is The man from Earth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/
American GAngster comes to mind. I was really suppreised that Frank Lukus just turned in all of the police and feds that he had bribed to keep his business going. Also it kinda supprised me that the entire thing was based on a trur story. I personally think that that movie was badazz.
I Pulp Fiction kinda comes to mind also. They way that everything was explained and the way everything broke down. I think that it was kinda kool.
Schindlers List made me realize just how horrible Humanity can be towards 1 another.
Thirteen made me think about how hard it is to grow up in todays society. Always wanting to be noticed. Having to deal with everday struggles. Yeah, Ive never went through some things in that movie, but it does make you think. Amazing movie x)
I was just wondering what films have left a impact on you , like sorta 'Wow' when its finished or something.
I was just thinking this as i've just not long finished watching Taxi Driver , and the ending imo is really powerful , you'll know which part i mean if you've seen it , i would Spoiler tag it , yet i dont know how
So yeah , have any films left you feeling this way?Oakfront
I watched Taxi Driver for the first time last night and eh. Don't think it was that hard hitting. I should probably watch it again sometime.
Films that have the biggest impact on me are always the ones I watch the first time, get bored, and watch the second time because something in my head is telling me give them a second try, which is when I think to myself, "Holy crap! This is some powerful s***." Here are the ones that made the most impact:
Yi Yi
Maborosi
Last Life In The Universe
In The Mood For Love
Jules and Jim
2001: A Space Odyssey
I had that experience with Blue Velvet. I've never hated a movie so much as I did on my first viewing...and now it's one of my all time favorites. Fancy that.Films that have the biggest impact on me are always the ones I watch the first time, get bored, and watch the second time because something in my head is telling me give them a second try, which is when I think to myself, "Holy crap! Yeah I was about to say Children of Men, too. it's not like robots taking over the world and then you walk out of the theatre white-faced and write a letter to MIT telling them to stop building robots, it's something that is based on real life, like people that kill their babies and then they're like "Hey, lol, what if liek thar were no babeez." And then they go "Oh noes."
Well Vantage Point left me shaking from excitement.........
Or was it that Monster slurpee i had???

Blue Velvet didn't settle so well with me on the first viewing, but I'll give it a second chance someday.
It's not who you are underneath but what you do that defines you
-Batman Begins(Rachel Dawes)
This is true in life no matter who you are.
