I really don't understand their casting choices outside of name and recognition.

It's not that it looks bad, (who am I kidding, of course it looks bad) it's just there's nothing there that makes me convinced that Uncharted needed a movie. This reminds me of the recent Tomb Raider with how generic it feels and we're getting a new Tomb Raider movie after the recent one. Mark Wahlberg on the other hand is the biggest issue without the grey mustache. Should have cast Tom Hanks as Sully:
Huge miss opportunity as Sully lol.
Two things from that trailer they copy-pasted from James Bond. :/
Seen some people shitting on Tom Holland for age, personally think he is kind of well suited, his "naive enthusiasm" seems to have turned into an art-form at this point.
But yea, looks rubbish. Pointless.
Just play the game?
Uncharted is my favorite game series. I was skeptical when it was announced they were doing a movie. I was even more skeptical when Holland was cast as Drake. Then even more when Wahlberg was cast as Sully. Then the heavy delays. It was one thing after the next compounding my skepticism that this movie would even be released.
The trailer gives me a very small glimmer of hope. I expect it'll be the worst Uncharted released but will still be enjoyable as a B rated film. Time to reign in expectations on this one. It probably won't be the worst game to movie adaptation (looking at you MK Annihilation), but it won't be the best (oddly... Sonic of all things?). I expect a 2 hour action romp with Hollywood flare as they try their best to mimic the game's adventure and falling short... but it's also hard to emulate an 8-15 hour game into 2 hours.
I expect a good time. We'll see how it compares to something similar... the Indiana Jones, National Treasure and Tomb Raider movies. Time will tell how this does.
@Telekill: I still like this Uncharted over what were getting at:
Despite its fan-made, you can tell the details were well made, Sony pictures didn't even try harder with the cast. Sure Nathan Fillion is old, but we have de-aging tech that will make him young Drake. Whoever made this vid needs to be hire and show Sony Pictures this is how you make a legit Uncharted.
I'm still a fan of Uncharted, I'm super excited to replay UC4 again on PC, I will still see the movie but this pains me the fan-made is just superior.
If the Uncharted movie looks like this, it has me wondering what their Last of Us show for HBO is gonna look like. Not sure that having a division know mainly for making video games should branch out to making shows and movies based on said games. Maybe they should have kept it under their Sony Pictures division.

Like they can afford to use a leading man like Tom Hanks for a supporting role in a dumb video game movie.
Not at all interested in the cast. Terrible, terrible casting. My eyes did open wide during the cargo plan scene, because it did look like the game, albeit poorly done. Makes me wonder what other set pieces they're going to recreate. It's going to get panned, but maybe not as bad as the Assassin's Creed movie.
