Here's my five that would shock me if they were to break up.

The guys in Metallica will break up eventually, or at least most of the bandmembers will leave. They don't get along.

Smashing Pumpkins? Billy Corgan is really tempermental, and because of him, Darcy left, and then James Iha had no want to return after the band broke up.

Don't get me wrong, love both of those bands, but no... they are not meant to be together.

These 5 I think will stay together until the members get tired of being in a band, or decide to just disband to do their own things (even if things were great):

R.E.M.

Foo Fighters

Radiohead

Sigur Ros

U2 (not a big fan, but it's whatever I could think of)

Just Iron Maiden.

But maybe I'll edit again later for no good reason.

I could add Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Kreator, and almost any band which is controlled mainly by one person.

R.E.M. - They have been together for almost thirty years and even though they almost broke up a few times they were always able to handle those situations very well and keep going as bandmates and friends.

U2 - The same four guys have been playing together since the band started, as far as I know they are the only band that had such a long career and the members were always the same during all those years.

Rolling Stones - They have had lots of lineup changes but that is natural since they are closing in on a 50-year career but the core of Jagger, Richards and Watts will stay together until something happens to one of them.
