It's just the white house wanting to know what misinformation is circulating the web; it has nothing to do with "snitching on your friends".

Which parts specifically? I'm genuinely curious what you're implying.

So it's unconstitution to ask people to email them misinformation?

Lol this is a terrible Idea, they're just doing it so they can try and change the public view on a bill that obviously isn't very effective for America.

Thats not what it seems like though. They are taking what people are saying, analyzing it and using it to push out a sort of counter arguement they can use to convince the American people that this will work.

It's just for pointing out misinformation that circulates on the web. It's actually somewhat necessary considering that HMOs are notorious spreading false information whenever health care reform comes up. For example, there's good reason to believe that HMOs are the ones organizing and funding all those protests that have been taking place as of late.

Also, libel and slander aren't protected speech so what the administration is doing is perfectly legal.

1- Whats there reasoning for doing this, if they aren't convincing people otherwise.

2-Why are they taking peoples Emails? Why can't they find this stuff on their own, it'd be fairly easy.

This is a common practice; politicians do this all the time, especially during campaigns, to ask supporters to email them misinformation.

They are trying to build up support for health care reform. One way of building up support for health care reform is by refuting false information. And again, politicians do this all the time. This is a common practice.

Thats basically what I've been saying the whole time. They are trying to change views on a bill that very few people think would be good, instead of changing the bill to something that people think would be good. Its rather sad.

One of the reasons why health care reform is viewed under an unfavorable light is that there is misinformation surrounding the debate.

Apparently the white house isn't smart enough to understand the objections to their health care plan, even though a simple search on google could probably produce thousands of articles, so they need the flock to keep them in touch with reality. So if nothing else they are clueless, at worst dangerous.

Not so much. Its because it makes health care worse for most people. If they just gave coverage to people who can't afford it nobody would care, but they are basically going to turn it into a euro style healthcare system.

It's asking for misinformation (you know, so that the misinformation can be debunked); it is not asking for the names or identities of individuals conveying misinfo. There is a pretty clear distinction there for anyone willing to see it.

Not true. The White House in fact MUST keep a record of everything that goes in and out, including letters and emails -who sent them, what they said, etc. It is saved and archived, acording to law.

In the system we have in place now, the tax payer already pays for other peoples health care. We pay for medicare, we pay for medicaid, and we even pay for the uninsured, although he pay for the uninsured in the least cost-effective way imaginable. And the care people receive in europe is quality care.

The care people recieve in Europe is not quality care compared to American health care for the average person. We pay for some of the people who cant afford healthcare, soon we will be paying for half of america because they'd rather get it free than pay for it, and then Health Insurance prices will sky rocket, and we will be paying for 90% of people.

Never heard of this one before, sounds like a terrible idea. I can only image what would have happened if Bush did something like this: people would have been calling for his head

There is the misinformation. I know its not exactly like it, but its is tax payer paid for everyone. Also Euros don't have better healthcare. They have more people who have it, but the people who do have it have worse.

No, that's not true. Countries like France have better quality health care than the U.S. And it is much cheaper for the tax payer to pay for the health insurance of the uninsured so they can receive primary care rather than paying for their foot amputation and the antibiotics they received for a number of weeks when they go to the ER and discover that they have an advanced stage of diabetes. That's one of the main reasons why premiums are rising in the first place.

Doesn't take a crystal ball to realize that just about every program the government creates doesnt produce the intended results and costs way more than they said it would, for that you only need to open a history book. I imagine it's hard to pay attention with your head buried in the sand.

European health care is not much if any cheaper.

Edit: and why american health care is slightly more expensive is because the revenue is used on reasearch.

Significantly? That would be an exaggeration.
