Most cheap food is high calorie food.

That is why fat people are usually poor.

And why sushi is so expensive.

Now, this may have been a sarcastic post. In which case, it stunk. If it wasn't, it doesn't make any sense at all. I think i've covered my bases.

You can get pretty high calorie sushi nowadays. Mayonnaise, deep-fried prawns and the like.

It's just what I've noticed..."healthy food" is too expensive, and "unhealthy food" is very cheap. I'm glad because I needa gain weight but I'm so addicted to stupid expensive sushi which doesn't cause permanent weight gain.

Negatory. A calorie is just heat energy.

nutrients are things you're body extracts from food sources, so calories are very much an important nutrient to living organisms

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Nutrients are extracted from substances and your body metabolises them, which in turn produces energy. A Calorie is just the amount of heat energy required to heat up 1kg of water by 1°C.

Because some people who don't have much money(like me) have to only buy cheaper foods which have higher amounts of fat and sugar in them (cheaper than artificial sweeteners and "healthier" oils) and so often end up gaining a lot of weight.

A calorie is the amount of energy derived from a nutrient, whether it be a lipid or a carbohydrate. You cant say that a unit of measurement is a nutrient

If you're on a budget, a bag of flour is cheaper than a bag of sugar and has about the same calorific value. I advise mixing it into a paste with a little water first if you don't want your tea to go lumpy.

A calorie is the amount of energy derived from a nutrient, whether it be a lipid or a carbohydrate. You cant say that a unit of measurement is a nutrient

if both lipids and carbohydrates are nutrients, then that would make calories also nutrients.

you can argue about it all you want, but at the end of the day, calories are routinely listed as the first item under 'nutrition facts'

Looks like it's up to pengo93 to save the day....

Nutrients are chemicals needed for an organism to maintain its metabolism and growth. Lipids and carbohydrates fall under this category as they are, shockingly enough, chemicals needed for an organism to maintain its metabolism and growth.

Calories, are a unit of measurement, used to represent the amount of energy released by the breakdown of nutrients such as carbohydrates and lipids. Calories are no more nutrients as joules, watts, coulombs, amps, degrees kelvin or any other unit that measures energy.

Calories are not chemicals!!

According to the Glycemic Index, potatoes, white rice, and refined pasta are the enemies of fatties everywhere. They should eat nothing but meat according to Atkins and die prematurely of malnutrition and cancer.

Silly clowns! Like fruits and veggies never came into the equation!
