I'm doing a essay on a book, where I'm supposed analyize the plot and stuff but I added some info about the author. Am I supposed to cite where I got the info like a research paper or can I just leave it?

ANY TIME you cite ANYTHING that's not out of an obvious source, you need to cite it. So, obviously you don't need to cite the book you read when you do a book report, but any information you obtained outside of the book that you're reporting about should be cited.

If you're using information other than your own, always cite where you got it from unless you want to be a SOB plagiarist.

Always cite it, just in case.
