I used to think that all hip hop was bad. I recently changed that opinion. Almost all hip hop is bad. There is some that I like quite a bit. If it's relevant, insightful and poetic, then it deserves to be called music.

Great. Hip Hop is my favourite Genre atm and TC, you have some great taste but i have to disagree Lupe Fiasco is not the greatest but he is the better ones in the Mainstream Rap.

The real HipHop/Rap are those Old-School and Underground Rap

Here is some i highly recommend you check them out on Youtube:
K-Otix
Krs-One
Gangstarr
2Pac
N.O.T.O.R.I.O.U.S Big
Jedi Mind Tricks
Mobb Depp
Immortal Technique
Noreaga
CNN

I have a list of great rappers out there that could crush 50 Cent, Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne and all other Mainstream rappers, oh i wouldn't call Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne rappers, more like Pop Music.

TC you know nothing about Hip hop.. keep listening to stuff no one cares about and try and bash mainstream all you want.. mainstream is good enough for those of us who are to busy to give a damn about looking cool or what ever. Immortal Technqiue once got offered by Interscope or BMG studios not actually sure but it could make him to the Mainstream rap, but he refused the offer for some reason. Regarding Lupe Fiasco, i am not sure if he is the greatest Young Rapper alive, maybe on the Mainstream Rap but if you mean the whole Hip Hop Genre then that is a different story.

If you wanna found good Hip-Hop artists, you gotta dig the dirt first, but those haters are affraid of getting their hands dirty, so they prefer ignorance.

Excellent song BTW, TC

DrCoCoPiMp

Look no further than Tha Carter III, SQ1-7, The Prefix, the Suffix, Dedication, Dedication 2, BLOW, and the 50 other Wheezy mixtapes....But Tha Carter III tops all.

If there is good rap with absolutely no violence, sleazbaggery or hate in it, that's all fine and dandy. What I and others object to is the stuff that IS endorsing the empowerment of criminality, hate, or sleazbaggery.

Hmm....So let me guess your parents are hardcore Christians and wont let you buy the stuff so to redeem yourself since your too uncool to listen to good music you pretend to hate it for bogus reasons....I bet your the same about GTA and Half Life....

Wait.... is that a Half Life logo? Is that game violent? Does it glorify shooting crap and making blood fly everywhere? I'm confused.

Kind of dumb that you're saying "oh yeah I hate hip hop" when you probably only heard Soulja boy and crap on TV.

BTW, Soulja boy doesnt deserve to be classified under hip hop. Cause he's not doing hip hop. Go listen to some other artists and stop generalizing.

i like it because of the harmony, though it is at the same time chaotic. it all fits, yet everything is different and unusual from what i usually hear. by which i mean the choice of instruments mostly. in total i just like the st yle also, since the lyrics are mostly gibberish, at least to these eyes, they are open for interpretation to the extreme, and create all sorts of imagery. don't even have to pay attention to the text though, it has enough melody to have it play while doing something - though it does grab your attention. i also like the dynamic flow of the rhymes. alot of rap i feel grows stale and holds too much of the same rythm, or at least repeats the same pattern. and i'm not talking the mainstreams either here.

this one i like for pretty much the same reasons. maybe minus some

made in the 90s (i like to think) so it's already got a label of quality. it's harmonic, laid back, melodic, a lot more structured than the earlier example i showed, but it's good. i also like what they singing about, and the flow is also good. it's very ambient, which i often get bored by, but everything else is tempo'd up enough to keep my attention.

i like chants. i like voice to be used as an instrument, and not just to read text. again the st yle in this one has a unique feel because of the mixture of gregorian chant, snare drums played like in the military... which i just now realized may be more symbolic and fitting for the song than i thought. chant as sung in church, with a melancholic feel, probably mostly in funerals, and drums traditionally played when going to war, and also played at military funerals i believe, which suits the lyrics. anyway. the lyrics i find are very powerful in this one, and it does well in telling a story, and has great imagery. it's also cool how he gets to verse we've all heard before and how it fits perfectly in. you know when you hear it, though it's some ways in. and he seems to take up an issue that is still active today. though that's just a bonus.

tupac is a god. just listed one of the best to be careful. Though I like this one too:

no matter who the creator is, though, there's always going to be songs I don't like. I'm gonna be honest, I actually hate most things short of clas sical music, but the more I listen, the more it seems it's just because what's good has already been made. Which is why I like clas sical music, and love the 90's regardless of genre. If I'm gonna make an example of "don't always trust the creator" I can use what is(or was, I've heard too much of them lately) probably my favourite band: Sigur ros. They've got some I really like, such as hoppipolla (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkP_NaMsrMM), but they have some freaky **** as well. And no, I don't get what they're singing.

Now for the ones I don't like and have been listed. Half the links don't work.

I get the message, but there's not enough to hold my interest. Drums and some bassline just isn't enough, almost no matter how interesting the lyrics are. And it's repetitive.

here there's enough to grab my attention, but unlike the one's I listed first, this stays chaotic, and doesn't get a proper harmony for me. Also very repetitive. I've heard NAS make better, though.

i know plenty people listen to songs because they're reached through the subject and what is said - but if peoplearen't interested in that topic, be it **** hoes, money, getting fame, or being it a story about a young idiot surviving the streets and keeping it real or even ones complaining about those topics … you can't blame them.

so there's my taste defined, justified and kept real, ya dig? peace!

This sounds like a waste of time. I'm going to keep listening to Chimaira.
