Here in the armpit of America,(NJ) during your Junior year in high school, you have to take this state test called the HSPA. This test is basically all forms of math, reading and writing that you have been thought throughout your school school years. So they give us this test March 6. If you pass it, your in good shape, if you don't , you won't graduate.. But if you fail it, you get two more chances to pass it. But if you failed the first time, you have to take a class called S.R.A (during your senior year), to prepare you for the HSPA. If you fail the HSPA the next two times, you will have to pass the SRA class to get your diploma. Seems fair right? Ok. The state is suggesting to remove S.R.A classes. So if you fail the HSPA all 3 times you will go to summer school and you will get some called a certificate of attendance (for attending high school), or something like that. But it WONT be a high school diploma.
So your telling me, that after all the BS I went through all those 4 years. The essays, stupid projects, homework count for NOTHING?? It all lies on this **** test wether I graduate or not? Is that even fair? What if a person just can't take a test? The person knows his his/her stuff but just can't take the test. I've seen people like that. And it ain't pretty. You last the whole 4 years and fail a test and all you get is a certificate for attending high school (not a high school diploma)? Their telling me a high school diploma and a G.E.D are aquired in the same way? Am I over reacting or do I have a point here?

yeah...and in 10 grade, if you dont pass it...you stay back.... but yeah, standardized tests suck....but at least they dont count towards real life...as long as you pass and get it over with your done with it...and never look at it ever again..Why does everyone always bust on NJ?DaveGamer_05Cause NJ sucks.
Well I answered #3, but my real answer would be "No, because if they managed to pass their classes, that's enough. Why bother them with another test to worry about?"gtarules42If only most states would think like you.
If you cannot handle a simple high school test then you will have major problem functioning in the real world. SmashBrosLegendYeah Mr. smartass, Its not about whether you can handle it or not its' about all the useless work that they give you for nothing when it all boils down to some stupid test.
Here at my school (Southern California), we have the CAHSEE- California High School Exit Exam if you will, and I took it last year in sophomore year... yeah and it was 8th grade crap (Algebra 1, simple English comprehension and the like)zakkroArgh!! Your sig!!! It burns!!!
That is pointless. High School is the biggest drain and waste of 4 years of your life. 90% of the stuff you learn in High School you won't remember. The only stuff you will remember is the stuff that you have to remember for your future job. For instance, if you are going to be in architecture, you will probably remember more math than someone who isn't. And even if you don't know something out of high school, you learn in college or on-job training. High School does absolutely nothing but waste your life. They try to make it important, but it isn't. The school board should just get their heads out of their asses, realize that they are a failure at life and a complete waste to the advancement of society, and just stop putting out useless tests that mean nothing.Account_27And to think that I've been telling this to my teachers since the beginning of my freshman year in High school.

I took the HSPA. It's not hard at all. Deal with it. Stikke
