https://www.amazon.com/Middle-earth-Limited-Collectors-Blu-ray-DVD/dp/B01JH3KL0E/ref=sr_1_cc_9?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1472780716&sr=1-9-catcorr&keywords=lord+of+the+rings+blu+ray

Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit is easily one of my favorite series to watch. I wanted an ultimate edition, but they priced this thing so high it's borderline hilarious. Read the comments for fun. It's had 3 price drops and is sitting at 599 right now.

If it hits 150 i'll order it, if not....they can keep it!

I already have the movies, so getting a bookshelf isn't really worth it for me at that price. I would be interested in the red book of westmarch though.

I want the whole package. Hoping the price keeps dropping.

For that kind of money, I'd expect REAL leather bindings.

Hell, you could probably buy both Extended Blu-ray collections and a top shelf edition of the books and get the same result.

Never really a fan of the movies nor the books. Initially I was but after closely examining them the themes & motifs came across very snobby, british class based bullshittery.

Everything thats important must be descended from nobility.

Big bad Sauron puts all of his power into a ring something you can easily misplace.

Gandalf is actually a villain who exploits an innocent and borderline retarded group of people to export a weapon of mass destruction.

Perhaps Sauron wanted better real estate ? Living in a volcano is probably ok in the Winter.

The Lord of the Rings films were great. The Hobbit films sucked. At least LOTR was faithful to the source material. The Hobbit, especially the Desolation of Smaug, was a mess.

In honor of this new deal, I went out and bought all six movies on Blu-Ray for $12.

Yeah, but it wasn't nearly as obvious as The Hobbit. I've never seen a movie completely faithful the book on which it was based. I just recall too many moments in The Hobbit when I thought, "That didn't happen," or, "That didn't happen like that."

The moment Arwen showed up instead of Glorfindel, I just knew LOTR will be for entertainment only. I can recall many instances when all three books were off. Heck another one is the total omission of the Barrow-downs and Tom Bombadil altogether along with Bywater near the end.

Glorifindel is not really a character I regret losing to be honest. His role in the main story basically began and ended in saving Frodo from the wraiths. Swapping him out for a character that had parts in the next two films was the right choice in my opinion. I do miss Bombadil however, but I do understand why he would be cut.

The problem imo was they just made up way too much new material for the Hobbit movies to stretch it out for a trilogy and what they invented was just bad. I have gripes about the LOTR trilogy but it's a good set of movies. The Hobbit movies are just plain bad movies. I'm a big Tolkien fan but I have no desire to own The Hobbit movies. They were made purely to make money and they make me seriously suspect anything else that Peter Jackson directs especially when you that boring as hell King Kong remake to his list of credits.

The impact of Peter deviating from the book wasn't as bad for me in The Hobbit because the precedence was already set in LOTR. I knew his style and I was expecting a lot of material in The Hobbit that weren't in the book.

Once I resigned myself to not expecting book-accurate, I found all six movies enjoyable and I bought all six.
