For you creative folks: What inspires you?

Besides 'smokin a buncha dope, bro!' what inspires you to create something awesome or just to help you accomplish something?

For me it's almost 100% music.

Whenever I hear an idea in music presented in a brand new way I'm usually pretty amazed. Whenever there's some new technique being used or an unheard combination of genres, or just a new sound in general, it's usually pretty inspiring. For example, listening to the new Animal Collective album and how they've managed to effortlessly make an almost entirely electronic album sound so human and organic is very impressive to me.

haha, Just camping. I enjoy looking at my pictures, though. It reminds me that there is a world outside of ****s, parties and college drama.

I'd like to do some exploring/hiking things like that but I'm just too damn lazy. Also I'm not really into the whole sleeping outside thing. :P But I guess there's people like who can take some sweet pictures of it, that's cool.

I don't believe much to anything has inspired me to do anything great.

For me....music inspires me.like pink floyd, kiss, and rush.

you should see some of my artwork in this art class i took, i made a drawing of neil peart. that was difficult. i made a gene simmons painting that was pretty sweet. that teacher got tired of me...

I don't remember the music in Okami, but if you enjoy soundtracks you should make sure that you listen to the Bodysong soundtrack. It's absolutely amazing. The new Animal Collective album and the Bodysong sountrack are pretty much the only two things I've been listening to for about the past month. :)

Very nice. I love soundtracks with great themes like this one. They usually incorporate some really neat ideas and present them very nicely. I'd link you to some good Bodysong pieces but I don't even know what's what. I haven't payed attention to individual songs. Regardless, look it up. ;)

People watching. Getting a nice big cup of coffee and sitting down in some public space making up stories for people. Of course you'll get weird looks if you're ugly or something. It is fun to do.Vandalvideo

Weird. I hate when people watch me work. Especially if it's like a piece of art or I'm working on something in photoshop or I'm learning/making something up music-wise. I feel like they're rushing me and aren't gonna appreciate what I'm doing and that they're going to judge the single little piece they saw me working on at that very moment. :P

On an unrelated note, I can't stand when people watch me just surf the interweb either. They don't even have to be saying anything, but it just drives me crazy. :roll:

Experimenting. I like to come up with new techniques in both 3d modeling and photoshop, and that's how I end up thinking of ways to use what I come up with.

Just today I was experimenting with the lathe tool in Lightwave to come up with a way to create a parabolic antenna, and I also did some tests to figure out how I can use the rounder on objects without violating the surface obstruction problems. After doing that, I decided to come up with something that I could use for my animation project at school, so I've been working on this for a couple hours:

The good thing about its simplistic shape is that texturing won't be too much of a problem.
