After 29 years as a gay activist, former lesbian magazine publisher Charlene Cothran stunned the homosexual community when she announced she had become a Christian.

She has renounced her homosexuality, and changed the format of her magazine to spread the Gospel to the gay community.

As a gay rights activist, Cothran was never afraid to fight for what she believed in. For 30 years, she was as vocal and in your face as they come.

So she threw away her identity in order not to be made fun of? Either she never was a homosexual or someone who took the easy way out.

I think this is very good news indeed. All Christians should rejoice when a person repents of their previous way of living and adopt a Christian lifestyle. :)

I love how when people stop being homosexuals they either go "oh, they're being closeted!" or "oh, they were never homosexuals!"

You're a homosexual when you have sex with the same gender. This woman was a homosexual.

You're "closeted" when you give up homosexuality to quit being made fun of, something this woman did not do.

I wonder how many people actually consider the possibility that homosexuality is not genetic. . .

The woman isn't denying hher true urges. . .she's changing what those urges are. Quit acting like she was forced into it.

No, if we could change our urges, depression would be cured, because people would urge to do nothing but sit down and live like a robot. You can't just change your hormones. Yes, she was forced, when 80 percent of the population judges you, that's a form of coercion.

She was not forced. If she was, wouldn't she say something instead of "Oh, I'm so happy now!" ?

I hope it wasn't subscription-based, because I'd be pretty pissed if I paid to subscribe to something and they just decided to change what it was entirely while I was still subscribed to it.

One could just be a prostitute, they don't have to give, but they can recieve. Thats homosexual sex, yet the prostitute isn't necessarily homosexual.

I think when people think of the stereotypical arrogant Christian, this is the kind of image they have in their mind.

So, because Christians have one more person following the same faith, it makes the religion "more correct"? If you truly believe in what you believe in, why should it matter if one more person agrees with you? Why should there be any rejoicing? Is this a popularity contest?

I'm sure there are many ex-Christians who changed their religion to something else -- heck, I am one of those people. Why is someone essentially doing the opposite newsworthy?

Dude. . .Christians rejoice because that means somebody else is going to Heaven when they die, and that is a very good thing. Hell, I rejoiced when the leader of the satanist union here became a Christian. You are REALLY reading too much into his message.

Yeah, those denials ("I didn't inhale" and "I did not have sex with that woman") didn't work for Bill Clinton; I can't believe he thought that they'd work for him.

[QUOTE="Jemdude"]Not only did she become a Christian, but she turned her gay publication into a Christian one as well! :)SpaceMoose

I hope it wasn't subscription-based, because I'd be pretty pissed if I paid to subscribe to something and they just decided to change what it was entirely while I was still subscribed to it.

I believe the magazine is also available for subscription. But they probably provide refunds on issues they haven't mailed off yet. Ironicly, some people agree with her and and want to follow in her footsteps.
