Ah, you're an MSNBC sheep. Good to know for future reference.

Mark_the_Lie

how does that make him an MSNBC sheep? You can hate Fox more than MSNBC while at the same time disliking MSNBC.

Because no one would who understands how dishonest MSNBC is would post a respone passively defending it, while still trying to avoid admitting that they watch it.

It's just like Demokratic...marginalizing how terrible MSNBC is, because he watches it, but can't let anyone know because it would compromise the small amount of credibility he hasn't already lost in his other ridiculous threads.

Dude I dont take any tv news seriously. Dont make things up. Thats the biggest problem with fox news ironically enough...

"MSNBC sheep" specifically means that you ignorantly believe and preach what you hear on MSNBC. There's not really room for interpretation there. "Conservative," on the other hand, is an abstract term that has multiple meanings, even in a political context. Try again.

Mark_the_Lie

says you... A sheep is known for other things. And I really don't care about the content of the BS you slipped in; but that you slipped it in. You could've even humbled/insulted yourself in that description and I'd object.

So...you're saying you could have wool, or make a "baaa" noise, or maybe stick your head in a bucket of water and drown? Yea, I guess you have a good point. Sheep are known for all of those things too.

I didn't ask you to list all the things you know about sheep. My point was that the connotation is up to the person.

i get it. Like sheep we follow the herd and have the "wool" pulled over our eyes. Very good analogy very good, i applaud you.

it was horrible to here that 3000 people died during the events that occurred on 9-11-01 and not one of them was Glen Beck:D

BTW the smiley face at the end is a qualifier and makes the joke alright and not in bad taste at all

is this referring to that Onion video where Beck didn't die? That video was hilarious.

[QUOTE="clubsammich91"]Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity do not represent the entire network.

Oleg_Huzwog

I disagree. When a network hires a commentator, gives them a 30 minute time slot to say and do whatever they like on a daily basis, and keeps the network's logo affixed to the bottom of the screen the entire time... the network is saying "yes, this person represents us".

No, the network is saying "this persons gets us ratings, so we don't care what he or she says." CNN does the same thing. The exception to this is MSNBC. MSNBC allows Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, and Rachel Maddow (among others) to spew extremist hate all day long, and they still don't get any ratings. When you do that, it becomes an endorsement.

MSNBC's competition isn't even CNN or Fox News; they don't get enough viewers to be compared to either. It's more like CNN Headline (the channel CNN relegates all of their unpopular shows to), because CNNHL and MSNBC have roughly the same comparably pathetic ratings every week.

Yes, but the commentators are different from the reporters. People who say it "isn't news" are just looking at Beck and Hannity and don't even notice all the people who are actually reporting the news on that network. It's like saying Panda Express isn't a restaurant from only seeing the place when it isn't open.

That's great. My point is that you can't attack my description of "conservative" as being "propaganda" or "BS" , because it's such an abstract and subjective term. You have no concrete standard against which you may compare the description to say it is faulty. The term "sheep," however, is not an abstract or subjective term. It either interprets as moron or literally as an animal.

In other words, you can object, but you have nothing definitive to object to.

It's odd how people always point out when Fox News makes an error. However slight it is.

why do you think the OP is singling fox out? there is no responsibility to post every on-air mistake you see; though I assume the OP thought this one was funny. What do you have against people choosing what to post?

Hey lets pick on Fox news for everything and ignore the mistakes other news sources commit! Yeah! I'm not even a fan of Fox news, but cmon.majoras_wrath
Agree with this. Though I do enjoy seeing the ever present, never funny quip of replacing Fox News with Faux News. That joke isn't tired at all. At all...

If he thought it was funny he wouldn't have made the topic "Fox News Can't Do Math". You can't refute the fact that Fox is singled out.

I didn't put words in his mouth; hence my use of the word "if" at the beginning of the post. It wasn't propaganda. It was my understanding of the term "conservative" as applied to myself. He didn't define it, so I defined it for him within the context of the hypothetical pretense that my description was what he actually meant by "conservative." It was sort of an ironic pseudo-joke. Unfortunately, you took it completely seriously.

Also, I just checked the dictionary. There are no more descriptions of "sheep." I covered them all.

For Demokratic, it's justified to demonize, mock, and attempt to suppress anyone who might espouse an opposing point of view. Very simple.

Considering he's getting his information from the far-left cesspool that is thinkprogress.org, it's more than a safe bet that his intent was to single out Fox, because that was the intent of thinkprogress.org. They don't report mistakes that liberal outlets like CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS make.

I think Fox News is run by the decaying corpse of William Randolph Hearst and even I have to admit that this really isn't a big deal. News networks do this all the time and it's perfectly legitimate to look at how many people would be willing to vote for one candidate and comparing that to numbers for candidates. It makes sense, when you remember that these people won't be running against each other in an election. Two Republicans will not be against each other in the actual election, so why put them directly against each other in a poll like this?

except for the fact that CNN strives so hard to remain neutral that they are actually boring and get the lowest ratings because of it. they also got rid of CNN because he was too opinionated. so you are wrong. also even MSNBC, which is liberal bias, does not warp facts like fox does. they lean left, but they do not LIE to their viewers and show them false videos and tell them lies / untruth's. i love how people say msnbc is just as bad as fox because they are both bias . bias =/ liars.

except for the fact that CNN strives so hard to remain neutral that they are actually boring and get the lowest ratings because of it. they also got rid of CNN because he was too opinionated. so you are wrong. also even MSNBC, which is liberal bias, does not warp facts like fox does. they lean left, but they do not LIE to their viewers and show them false videos and tell them lies / untruth's. i love how people say msnbc is just as bad as fox because they are both bias . bias =/ liars.

The fact that CNN had Glenn Beck on for so long (and recently at that) should be a clear indicator that even they skew news sometimes. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

glen beck was normal when he was on CNN tho ( normal as in not crazy) he changed completely when going over to fox, in a sense he was bought. his entire show is an act. he does not believe in what he says. there is even a video out there of him putting a lot of vizene into his eyes to irritate them, so then when the cameras turn on, he's crying. i give him credit, he is a brilliant actor if you can call fooling millions of people into believing / following you acting that is.

Even on CNN, he was extremely right wing. I'm just pointing out his bias even on the supposedly bias-less CNN.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...

Just because other networks skew the news, why should we let Fox pass? mattbbpl

How are they skewing the news in this case? They're showing how likely people are to vote for some Republican candidates individually. There weren't three choices: Huckabee, Palin, or Romney. There were three separate polls. One asked if you would vote for Palin. You could answer yes or no. One asked if you would vote for Romney. You could answer yes or no. One asked if you would vote for Huckabee. You could answer yes or no. Since 189% is less than 300%, Fox isn't skewing statistics are failing at math. The fact that they don't know when to use a bar graph instead of a pie graph doesn't mean that they are deliberately misleading anyone.

thats probly why he's gone then . now while cnn strives to be neutral, i can still see some left wing lean, but it is very subtle and they try not to do it. now i personally have no problem with bias, i have actually started watching msnbc instead of cnn which i watched for about 2 years. i think they legitimize the crazy conservatives by giving them airtime, id rather not hear it at all.

The discussion had progressed beyond that single point. I was speaking on the whole.

If Jon Stewart has taught me anything about American news media, it's that this is NOT an isolated incident on the otherwise impeccable record of Fox News.

Sure, nothing wrong with a biased source or two (I listen to Air America, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox for goodness sake) as long as you can recognize bias, filter it out, and form your own opinion.

When someone says such and such source has no bias, it's frightening.

And I still find it pretty ironic that people actually think that he's trying to portray fact. The only fact of the matter is that the television show, and its radio simulcast, is for political COMMENTARY, not news. For proper news, Fox is pretty good. For commentary, you can bet the house that they're predominantly conservative.
