News Corp.'s Fox pulled its channels off Cablevision early Saturday after the companies' programming deal expired and negotiations for a new one stalled, threatening broadcasts of baseball playoffs for some 3 million Cablevision subscribers in New York and Philadelphia.

The blackout affects Fox 5 and My9 in New York and Fox29 in Philadelphia. Subscribers also lose access to cable channels Fox Business Network, NatGeo Wild and Fox Deportes.

The channels went dark when the programming deal expired just after midnight Friday.

Such deals spell out how much a cable TV system pays the broadcaster to carry its signals over the cable lineup.

The impasse means the subscribers, mostly in the New York area but also in Philadelphia, could lose access to Game 1 of Major League Baseball's National League Championship Series.

Story here

It's not Fox News, so no cheering please.:P:lol:

So glad I don't use Cable Vision. I don't know what I'd do without Stossel.

Baseball is mind-numbingly boring.

Once Fios was introduced Cablevision became obsolete. No sure why anyone still has it.

In separate fee disputes this year, Cablevision customers have experienced brief blackouts of The Walt Disney Co.'s ABC broadcast signal and Scripps Networks Interactive Inc.'s Food Network and HGTV.

Subscribers missed the first 15 minutes of the Oscars in the ABC dispute.

Looks to me that Cablevision could be the problem here.

I hate when business gets involved in stuff like this. Basically when a dispute between two companies puts the customers as hostages. It happened a few years ago with one of the college football BCS bowl games (forgot which one, it was a BCS bowl, but one of less prestigious ones like the Orange, or Fiesta)

Actually looking at Cablevision's record I must ask. Why the **** would anyone use Cablevision. Every year it's something different with they seem to hold their customers hostage over. Because of their own personal objections their customers couldn't watch the 2010 Academy awards, however this is worse. Not only do the Yankees and Phillies games risk being blacked out in their own markets (to Cablevision subscribers), but FOX is a big station with many things that will affect it's customers.

Cable companies charge people outlandish fees...they should pay networks more, imo...or else cut their monthly customer charges.

Those are not good places to have broadcasts threatened, especially when both are still going strong for the title.

lol that'd work. Give me
basic network (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc)
ESPN & ESPN2
NFL Network
TBS
TNT
USA
FX
Comedy Central
CNN
and G4 (still has a few good shows)

There's probably something i'm missing but you get the point. I don't want "LOGO" (the channel for all things homosexual, no i'm not joking), or the Food network.

Exactly. I would pay $15/month just for the entire ESPN package Then give me FX, Cartoon Network, SCYFY, Local channels, and a few others

Not a bad list.

*tosses out CNN, replaces with History Channel, Discovery, and NatGeo.*:P
