[QUOTE="payforaday"][QUOTE="_-B_Smooth-_"][QUOTE="payforaday"][QUOTE="_-B_Smooth-_"][QUOTE="payforaday"] My friend got me into it last year and I've been doing it ever since. I've gotten to where I can climb large walls, do flips and balance pretty well. Boy does it makr you strong quick too. Hope I dont hurt myself one of these days though.

how do you practice this??? Do you go to parks and just run and jump around?? I dont even think its possible for me to do this though...im 6'1 200 lbs...so im not exactly the right build for this...im strong though, even though that doesnt mean much...
People with a large build will have a harder time doing this. I have a medium build so it was easy for me to start building up muscle while also staying agile. As far as practice goes, just start by doing basic things like handstands and cartwheels, balancing on small things (rails etc.) and build up muscle. Also if you have access to a gym that teaches gymnastics or know someone who is fluent in gymnastics that will help.
As far as the jumping and climbing goes, find an object that is the same height as you and try to jump off of it and absorb the impact, then work your way up (literally) from there. For climbing, find a wall that is a few feet taller than you and try to grab on to the top of it. If you cant pull yourseld up the first time dont worry. Just keep trying and you will eventually get it. One more thing, if you want to do backflips and the sort the best (safest) place would be a gym where someone could spot you. But if not, then just find a nice patch of grass and try to flip. You may land awkward a few times but it's the only way you'll learn. Sorry for the long read.
yeah i dont mind long reads...they keep me entertained...and dont really care about the backflips...i just like the running, jumping, and climbing part....i can do the running, the jumping i could have trouble with (i havnt ever even attempted anything like this, so i have no clue what my jumping ability is...)and i think the climbing this would be impossible if i didnt get momentum going up..
and i have no clue where i could even attempt this...i think id be to embarrased and feel ridiculously foolish doing this in a park where people can see me....
I'm not sure exactly where you live. If its suburbs than that could be bad. If you have a nature preserve or woods near your house than that is good. Also climbing trees helps ALOT. So does doing pushups and pullups. In parkour it's all about being able to pull your own body weight quickly and swiftly.
yeah..i live in a crowded city...not a tree for miles...i guess i can do puships though...something is better than nothing...
Look around then. If I lived in a city I would be out every day doing parkour. As a matter of fact I go downtown just so I can do some real parkour. It really is the best terrain for that.
