It's a rumor but I heard this anime series will be based on the original manga, of course that's just rumours I heard in forums.

For the user who's asking how check where the manga stopped. I personally don't like it and I don't think it's that great. There are far better animes that deserve a sequel other than this. Good for the fans.

The manga and the anime part ways half way through, so it would be weird if they made a second season based on the manga (which has characters not ever seen in the anime, and the homunculus names are switched around)... ~ de arimasu

Besides, the movie gave an ending already to the series (I think?), so anything they do would not be based at all in the original story. ~ de arimasu
