Fun Logic Problem

I recalled this puzzle I was presented with once at a show, and thought it was interesting enough to share.

You and two other men have a crossbow. You are standing equal distances apart to form a triangle. No-one is allowed to move, and each of you will take it in turns to fire.
You have never held a crossbow before. Your chance to hit one of the other people is 30%.
The second person has briefly used a crossbow, and has a 60% chance of hitting whoever he aims at.
The third person has mastered the crossbow. At this range and his target not allowed to move, he will hit 100%. If he aims at you, you are dead.

The order of firing is you, the person with 60% accuracy, then the person with 100% accuracy, until one person is standing.

You get to go first; WHAT DO YOU DO?

Well if you dont get to move how you gonna raise amd release the arrow? :P

ima aim and miss both of them purposely, the guy with 60% accuracy will prolly go for the 100% accuracy guy, and then it will be my turn to take out the 60%accuracy guy and if i hit, woohoo i did it...

You have a 70% chance of missing, the 60% guy will most likely go after the 100% guy, If the 100% guy still lives he will most likely retaliate at the 60% guy

Damn it, only one crossbow, I would break it.

well, assuming I can't skip my turn, I would first shoot the 100% guy, hoping to hit him, and then hope the 60% guy misses and I hit him on the next turn

if I first shoot the 60% guy I'm dead anyway

Damn mypoorly worded problem. Sorry, you each have a crossbow! Otherwise breaking the crossbow would be a good answer. For further clarity, you can move your body, just not move from the spot you are standing :)

Well, it depends:

1) If the guy with the 60% accuracy is after you, then you shoot at him and try to get rid of him that way the chain is broken and you can use the confusion to distract the 100% guy and shoot him in the eye or something.

or

2) if the 100% guy seems too smart, then you take him out first so that way the other guy has a chance of missing you.

Braking the crossbow still works?? they wont be able to take the shot because you didnt.

No, if you shoot the 60% guy, then you're safe.

I think the key to this problem is the order of firing. 100% guy shoots AFTER 60% Guy. If 60% Guy is dead (as in, if you shoot him), then 60% guy never shoots, which means that 100% guy doesn't get to shoot either. If you kill 60% guy first, 100% guy can't shoot anyone as he would then be shooting out of order.

Okay, assuming that we HAVE to shoot. Someone else said that since you get the first shot and everyone goes after you, then just don't shoot. That's a good answer. But if we assume that we have to shoot when it's one's turn to shoot, here's what you do...

Don't shoot at the 100% guy. If you hit him, then 60% guy gets next shot. He's then going to get one shot at you (and ONLY one shot), and there's a 60% chance that he's gonna kill you. Not a fight that you want to get in.

You want to shoot at the 60% guy. If you hit him, you're safe. 60% guy can't shoot, which means 100% guy doesn't get his shot either. Game over and you survive.

And even if you miss the 60% guy, he's not gonna shoot at you. He's gonna shoot at 100% guy. If 60% guy hits 100% guy, then once again, it's game over and you're still standing. Alternatively, suppose 60% guy misses. 100% Guy then shoots 60% guy. It then rolls around to your turn. You then get one final shot at 100% guy.

And that's the last shot that ANYONE fires. If you hit 100% guy when it rolls arounhd to your second shot, then you've won. You're the last one standing. And even if you miss, it's still game over with you standing. Because now that 60% guy is dead, he doesn't get a second shot, which means that 100% guy never gets his second shot.

Shooting at 60% guy first is the only scenario in which no one ever takes a single shot at you. So that's what you do.

Of course, that's assuming that there is absolutely no going out of sequence.
