Japanese classes huh?
Use Anki (http://www.ichi2.net/anki/index.html - soz can't link), it's an SRS - spaced repition system.
Basically it works like this, put in a word, and its translation, like flashcards. It'll quiz you on the meaning/translation. You grade yourself on how well you think you remembered it, 1 2 3 and 4. 1 if you forgot, 2 if it was difficult to remember, 3 if it took time but you got it, 4 if it was like stating the capital of France (which is paris btw).
If you fail the card, you have to repeat again. If you give it a 2 for the first time, you wait 12 hours, 3 gives you 3 days, and 4 will give you 7 days until the card shows up again.
The intervals will increase as you keep getting it correct, if you get it wrong you start from the beginning. This is designed so you put in the least effort in remembering but still remember the words you learn - for years. It's like drilling except it's a 1000x easier. I learnt 50 kanji in one day once :D (I know 800 so far, after 6 months of studying).
Anyway check the video and no this is not an advertisement.
