i layed in bed at 3AM. i had a hotdog with mustard and ketchup around 10:30pm, does that have anything to do with it?

I rarely get to sleep before midnight, even though I usually get into bed around 10 on weekdays.

I got woken up at 4 in the morning today, as I'd left my window open and the freaking chickens next door started making a racket. >.>

I don't usually have any trouble getting to sleep, but when the weather is hot and humid it keeps me awake.

I've been there already. The hardest thing you have to do is come to the realization that you can't sleep. The second part is what to do until you until you nod off. My activity is playing Fallout 3. And it won't kill you to lose a nights sleep

I tend to have problems falling asleep until it starts to get bright outside.

I know how you feel. I've not slept properly for months now. Every time I'm about to drift off I'll suddenly wake up because my leg spasms and kicks the wall. One time I thought I heard someone load a shotgun and started to panic. Not sleeping properly really makes you paranoid after a while.

Everybody has one of those nights from time to time.

Going to bed while watching some TV usually works.
